When you see someone and want to take a second look, you find them appealing and their style compelling, what is it? What captures your attention about that person?
For me, it has always been interesting/unexpected shoes. Or a nicely kept, but obviously well-loved, simple leather bag. A modern hair cut/style. Minimal jewelry. Architectural tops or dresses.
Those are the specific wardrobe elements that catch my eye first, but then I linger and notice self-assurance, comfort, a smile, ease of movement.
Not that I impart any of those characteristics, particularly, but I aim to. When I get dressed, I choose what feels “right*” in the moment – whatever will allow me to just be, to feel like myself, and to move through my day effortlessly.
Today’s outfit is simply what I need to wear to work and live today: sandals because it’s hot, a jacket for pockets, and a dress for comfort.
Happy Monday!
*Lyn talked about this in a post recently and it’s the perfect way to describe my “personal style” if I have one at all…whatever feels “right.”
WOWZA, gorgeous Grechen! I love this – from the way you styled it, to the colors, to the fit – SUPER!
You look perfect!!
For me, today’s ensemble was black ponte pants, tucked into black UGG boots, the longish Eileen Fisher ivory cashmere sweater I bought during the NAS and my black canvas ES Ida trench.
Can you tell our weather is very different from each other?? LOL
the opposite!! it’s supposed to cool down here in a couple of days. i’m both dreading it and looking forward to it LOL
thank you 🙂
Love the outfit. Everything about it. Looks comfty and attractive. I aspire to that 🙂
Grace & Peace, Iris
Love it, Grechen – have been wanting ot buy that EF stretch-kimono. Any chance you’d do a quick review (or maybe already have?). PS merlot/wine is a great colour for you! Love.
hi Chris! not sure if i’ll do a full review since it’s getting a little cool here for me to wear it, but i can answer any questions you have? overall, i haven’t worn it a ton yet, but i know i will in warmer weather, and even around the house as a layer with pockets 🙂 the sizing is pretty generous, and it’s longer in the back. i also love that it has high side slits so if you are wearing pants with pockets, you can easily reach them without having to move the jacket! it’s really a wonderful piece, and so versatile….
