Eileen Fisher linen dress | size XS
Beek Finch sandals
Hello Friday!!! Did this week fly by or what? I spent a lot of time in my studio (uh..garage) shooting new arrivals for SLOWRE (there are some good ones up!!) and a fun lookbook I’ll launch next week.
I’m actually trying to get a routine down for posting new arrivals, beyond just when they’re ready, like maybe every Monday, Wednesday and Friday (like Net-a-Porter) does, or Tuesday and Thursday; just having a predictable schedule would be helpful I think, so you guys know when to expect to see new items. Do you like the idea of twice a week? or three times a week? I like to browse for new items everyday, like I do on Shopbop, but I don’t quite have enough inventory for that yet. Maybe one item a day LOL
Also, I’d love it if you’d consider SLOWRE for your consignment needs as you transition to your fall/winter closets! I’ve been blown away by the items I’ve received on consignment already, but am always looking for more, especially cool weather pieces. And I’m open to accepting more mass-market items as well as long as they’re in excellent condition, but of course prefer indie/smaller designers when possible.
Thank you for indulging my mention of SLOWRE on occasion here, I am ridiculously excited about it and everyone’s response to it. The site will be undergoing even more changes (new logo soon!!!) this fall, and I look forward to sharing them with you.
Happy Friday!!! What do you have planned this weekend?? I’m doing a resistance band intensive at Pure Barre on Saturday and going out with friends that evening. After which, I will probably have to netflix & chill all day Sunday 🙂
I wore this exact dress yesterday and didn’t want to take it off. Like, ever. (Except when I spilled chicken salad on it as soon as I was out in public…but that came out more easily than expected.) I told my husband that I don’t know WHY I waited so long to try Eileen Fisher…this is the Perfect Dress.
Haha I know!! Every time I wear this dress I wonder why I wear anything else. Ever. Funny about your chicken salad – I’ve actually found that linen releases stains pretty easily. Thank goodness.
I’ll have to dig thru what remains of my closet (PLENTY!!!) and see if there’s anything you’d accept. I’m so glad that SLOWRE is going so well. I don’t mind seeing things on here or hearing you mention it…it’s your business venture, so promote it!
Headed to the city on Sunday with our youngest daughter to mover her in to college. It’s incredibly exciting to see her live out her dream, but sad for us because we enjoy her company so much! That’s a good thing, too, I guess.
Love that dress!
I’ve been mulling over this dress ever since I first saw it on you…but just curious about sizing. I think I am similar to you in sizing but I’ve never choose XS so was just curious if this dress is really that oversized??
Also quick question about Slowre. Do you accept items that are altered? I have a James Perse skinny dress I’m thinking of letting go but I altered the length up a couple inches. Thanks!
Yes. This dress is really that oversized. I tried on the medium also and was okay with it but then this one (they didn’t have a small) and thought it was so much better. With this style i need slimmer arms and the xs gave it that to me…
Yes I would take altered items – I’ve sold a couple of my own things that were altered
Oh so exciting for your daughter. And you :). But I understand how sad at the same time. Transitions/changes are so hard. But rewarding too I think ! All good things.
My step son is turning 14 next week and my nephew turns 17. Whoa. Those are my milestones. Hard to believe they just keep getting older. And we stay exactly the same lol
When I saw your picture I thought the dress was navy blue. Then, when I looked at the EF website, I see it comes in black or sapphire. Which color is your dress? Looks so pretty!
I love this dress but it’s a style I can’t imagine wearing – linen, but long sleeves. For me, if it’s linen season, I can’t think about wearing sleeves, except to wear a cardigan indoors. If we get cooler temps (maybe, as we move into September) I don’t feel right wearing linen. For a 43 yr old, apparently I’m an old-fashioned stick in the mud when it comes to some “rules”. I do want a new linen dress – looked at some of the Lithuanian etsy shops but they tend to have upper limits on sizing that doesn’t fit my bust. I’ll have to see if I can find one that could do custom, or look elsewhere. Tish Jett posted about Vivid linen last week – might be a UK brand but they ship to the US? Haven’t read to see if they’re a sustainable brand (based on pricing alone, I’d guess not).
Finally did get a black linen cardigan I’ll keep – the Eileen Fisher cocoon (it’s linen/nylon). It’s not exactly what I want, but it looks cute enough in the scenarios I want that I’ll keep it. I have a gazillion black cardigans – it’s probably my most often worn item of clothing – so I’m not too worried about keeping it. Especially after all the others I’ve returned 😉 Ironically, a linen (blend) cardigan I will wear in the fall & spring, so I don’t feel bad about only getting 4 months of wear out of it.
This weekend – smoking ribs, gardening, maybe try some sewing if I’m feeling motivated. (I am a terrible sewer but I figure if I keep trying it might help, right?)
Mine is black!
Thank you!
