So….it’s not BLONDE, but it’s still blonde, or super-light brown with lots of blonde. Anyway, I LOVE IT. I could have gone blonder, but honestly, the “really” blonde up against my skin was a little too extreme right now, so she toned it back a little and make it a warmer blonde/brown, and I like it. Perhaps I’ll ease my way into being blonder over time, and maybe even go full Rachel Antonoff by next summer, but for right now, I’m extremely happy. The length is getting better too – my goal is to reach my collar bones, and grow my bangs all the way out, but I may just keep going. I love to experiment with my hair – tweak it a little every few months…I wonder if I’ll ever love a style so much I want to stick with it for more than 6 months? Who knows?? Honestly, I just don’t see the point. It’s so easy and fun to play with hairstyles…it does get frustrating when you get one you’re not happy with though.
Now, I just have to learn to use a curling iron so I can make my hair look like this on the reg 🙂
Do you have a “signature” hair style/color? Do you change it often? or have you kept the same style for years?
So pretty!! I love the new blonde look 🙂
Love the color and the side bang. I had blunt bangs for about 6 yrs. I loved them. Right now my hair is mostly one length, light layering at the bottom and its longer in the front than the back. I love it 🙂
Holy cr*p you look amazing! Love the colour. Now I understand why you wanted to try it! It doesn’t look too blonde at all. And the outfit. Wow. I never thought of pairing a crisp, tailored vest with the harems but it looks great. I have a pair of black harems and I’ll have to try that. (So far, I’ve only worn a plain T-shirt with them since anything too unstructured looked too baggy.) As for my hairstyle, I happen to love my natural colour (a coppery brunette) and natural wave so I keep the same hairstyle that flatters it.
haha! thanks laurel 🙂
this vest is amazing – i’m so sorry i can’t link to it, but i got it at our bi-annual boutique garage sale here, it’s by a local designer who sold everything off, so i got it for $35!! the back is the best part and what keeps it from looking REALLY boxy and oversized; it’s nipped in and pleated, sort of peplum-like, but more modern. so good…
I LOVE IT! The warmer blonde / brown really suits you. I know it’s not “blonde-blonde” but this is a significant change and a version that looks great on you.
And totally sympathizing with you on trying to get your hair to look like the stylist did it on a regular basis…mine never looks as good as when a pro does it…sigh
It looks great! I was very curious to see what you ended up doing, and I think going more subtle was a very smart move.
I tend to grow my hair out, get sick of it and chop off six inches, regret it, and then spend the next three years growing it out. Rinse and repeat. You’d think that eventually I would learn… I did do a little subtle ombre coloring in the spring (about 2 years behind on the trend) and I like the look, but even more, I like that I don’t have to worry about roots.
I LOOOOVE it!! It’s perfect on you and the style is great, too. Oh, I’ll bet you are SO glad you went for it!
I have a signature bob, but like you, I change it up every other month or so. I’m constantly bringing in new pics of style tweaks, color changes…my stylist always looks at me like, “So what do you have up your sleeve today???” But she says she loves a client who wants change, so I believe her. And I tip well. 😉
Grechen, you look terrific! The honey/blonde tones in your hair are just gorgeous; great “slight twist” on your haircut, too! You have inspired me; my brown hair is kind of grown out roots with blond highlights that are not so cute. And, I’ve been sporting my now “hausfrau-ish” bun a bit too long. Time for change.
Love the dove grey vest over your crisp, white top and the fabulous Eileen Fisher black harem pants! The touches of your necklace and shoes really “make” a great look. It continues to be chic, contemporary, relevant, and comfortable looking as well. Great for any place to go!
I used to change my hair (and color!!) all the time; now I have a simple bob style that just works. It’s a little scary to look back over the years and see all of my different hair looks…..yikes!
Thanks always, and best to you! Kim
Looks awesome! I love it!
It looks AWESOME ! And I do love your outit also. I have long hair, layered slightly and have been growing out my bangs. I tried the subtle ombre look last year. I have grown tired of it and am thinking of going darker. It’s so humid right now, it’s mainly stays in a ponytail ! .
i used to hate the way my previous stylists styled my hair, i would sooner walk out with wet hair. now, i really like the body/waves she gets, but when i try to do it at home i fail miserably. probably because i don’t have loads of kerastase and oribe products at my side 🙂
almost all of my hair is ombre – and i love the look! it’s also going to keep me from having to go back a lot, i’ll just have to get my roots done at some point because they’re darker then the color she put up there, but it won’t be nearly as $$ as this was!!
i do the same thing – hello! pixie cut!! – but i’m always glad i try new things, i’ve never regretted it.
I hear you on the tons of products side…plus, I don’t have the patience to spend more than 5 min on styling at home either, which probably doesn’t help.
Gorg! Totally suits you. Really lovely.
Is Herff Christiansen no more? I went to their website and seems a bit empty…thinking that he is the local designer you’re referring to?
yes, that’s the local designer – i heard from staff at the boutique garage sale this past weekend that they’re closing down for a while, maybe indefinitely, so they were selling off all of their stock at the sale. sad, because i just started collecting them!
Love the color – looks so nice on you! I do my own color – have been coloring since I was ~16. These days I usually stay within a light brown to medium auburn range but when I was younger I did lighter & brighter on occasion too. I’ve always said “it’s just hair” and only once did I have some orange issues 😉
It looks great! I really like the styling. I normally am not big into expensive hair products but for some reason curls/waves really seem to demand them- I have had great luck coaxing some wave and texture out of my hair with the Bumble and Bumble Texture cream.
And like you, I just can’t keep my hair the same. I am never, ever “maintaining” a style. It’s either “cut it all off” or “cut the tiniest amount possible so that it will be long” or “BANGS!”.
I love the hair…the color and the length!
And your clogs are so cute. BTW, I do love my no. 6 clogs.
I have Sven clog sandals, Swedish Hasbeen clog booties and Stuart Weitzman tall clog boots
and I think the no. 6 clogs might be the most comfortable…if you like a wedge heel!
That’s too bad! I tried on some of his pieces a few years ago in a Santa Monica boutique and thought they were great. I had forgotten about the line, but love the aesthetic. Sad I re-discovered as they’re shutting down. I’m glad you scored some great pieces! Enjoy!
You look amazing Grechen!
Love the cut and the colour.
I have been dying mine to my natural colour for years, but my hair is getting SO GREY! I have been thinking about changing it up. I am trying to grow it looooong and it is taking forever. I keep thinking I should just chop it off but then I would have to start all over again. I would rather get to my goal and assess how I like it and go from there or forever regret never getting it as long as I wanted.
