I love RMS Beauty – I’ve been a fan since I first tried it in 2012 (whoa. I’m pretty sure I should ditch my living luminizer and un-cover up now that I’m sure they’re 4.5 years old. ewww). I use my living luminizer quite often, and love the slight dewy look it gives, but I haven’t used the un cover-up in awhile, other than for under eye concealer or spot coverage, mostly because it doesn’t include SPF, and I’m all about minimal steps in my skincare routine. But I do love it, and have thought about starting to use it again.
I was intrigued by the new master mixer though, especially after one of you told me I should try it (Gloria?) and use it just like I used the living luminizer. I also thought it would be pretty on my eyes, for just a little color, so I bought it yesterday while I was at Blue Mercury.
The effect is very subtle (perhaps you can’t even see it!), which is what I want, but very pretty. I use it on my cheekbones (I don’t use any blush or anything else), on the bridge of my nose, on my eyes, and just on the inside of my eyes, right by my nose. I haven’t tried it yet on my lips, but I’m sure the effect would be very pretty (watch this video with Rose Marie Swift , the model is SOO cute, and the makeup looks so beautiful).
I also got the second holes in my ears re-opened yesterday after getting some new earrings from my partnership with Aro where I get store credit in exchange for advertising (use code GC15 for 15% off). They’re hard to see (I’ll post better pictures later), but here’s what I’m wearing:
Melissa Joy Manning circle studs | sold out
Kristen Elspeth Aquamarine neptune stud | $92
Stil House tili earring | $100
Kristen Elspeth Thread arc ear hook | $45
(did you know that you should NEVER sleep in your earrings? It stretches out the holes. Hm. I don’t ever take my jewelry off at night…maybe I’ll start…)
And oh, looking at these closeups it seems it’s time to get my teeth whitened again LOL! I did Zoom years ago, and thought it worked well, but remember being very uncomfortable during the whitening. I liked that I didn’t have to do anything afterwards though, no trays, etc. What have you done to get your teeth whitened?
And who has tried RMS’ Master Mixer? how do you use it?
*I think that’s what I’m wearing, although it’s probably mostly worn off. I got a sample of it with my Integrity Botanicals order and I am OBSESSED. I can’t wait to order a full-size version.
I rinse with hydrogen peroxide in the morning – no taste, but it gets super foamy which is kind of gross/weird. I always follow it up with a second rinse of Listerine, which neutralizes the bubbles. Then my mouth feels “clean” and my teeth look brighter. Sometimes I do it twice daily; it just depends. I don’t think it’s an alternative to professional whitening, but I have found that rinsing is equally as good or superior to white strips or other at-home treatments. Plus it’s inexpensive and quick (and doesn’t burn my gums, which happens with the white strips). Might be a good way to extend time between professional treatments…
I’m surprised to learn about the earrings. Talk about gross, I’ve been wearing the same studs nonstop for YEARS. They have screw backs so I rarely take them off for cleaning. If I remember to, I will swab my earlobe with a few drops of alcohol before bedtime. I keep them somewhat loose, like screwed on about halfway through the thread, so there’s definitely opportunity for the posts to wiggle around and stretch out the piercings. So far, so good though – and I am way too lazy to take them off before bedtime!!
I’ve had the Master Mixer for a few months and use it on my eyes as a light shadow. It doesn’t seem to show up on my skin if I use it as a highlighter, mostly because I have oily skin, I guess. And I have this weird thing about jewelry where I take it all off once I’m home for the rest of the day, earrings included.
That’s so funny! I change my clothes and take off my bra the second I come home, but never take off my jewelry. I don’t wear anything that’s very substantial anyway…
Thanks! I’ll try rinsing with peroxide. I do swish with listerine twice a day but that doesn’t do anything for whitening. I have some stains on my teeth that won’t completely come out though, from antibiotics when I was a baby…
Oh and he also told me to never push the earring back all the way in – to leave it on the last ridge on the post. For what it’s worth…
My burning question is actually about your glasses. Who’re they by? They look good.
I knew I should have included a link there! Sorry! They’re Oliver Peoples, the pressman. I don’t think they’re still available though
So happy you got the Mix Master. I still love it because it gives a subtle glow and not a high shine. It is beautiful on the lips too. I am not a fan of RMS eye polishes though…they crease like crazy on me even with primer and using a powder under. The only one that seems not to slide off is Solar.
I have been Obsessed with Kari Gran products for years. The skincare is simple and effective and the lip whips are the best! Radiant and Marsala are my favs. Also, the mineral powder is the best I have ever used! A little goes a long way and looks natural. I love mixing it with the serum for a lighter look too. Cannot say enough about the products.
I am also a hydrogen peroxide swisher. I have super sensitive teeth so the whitening products do not work for me.
Same here – everything comes off when I get home! Usually it’s because I’m going to garden and/or exercise, but I don’t like to sleep in my jewelry so even if I’m just going to make dinner & watch tv – it’s a habit. For years I kept a stud in my 2nd hole but I haven’t used it in the past decade (except a handful of times).
My habit it so ingrained it can freak me out – for example, I’m traveling, I’ve had a couple glasses of wine, I’m jet lagged….I wake up and can’t really remember falling asleep and where the heck is my engagement ring??!! Oh yeah, in my jewelry case where I always put it before bed….Phew!
I’m a fan of RMS and minimal make-up. My go to is the uncover-up applied where needed (nose, chin, under eyes, etc), living luminizer (though I’m never sure I’m using it properly!), eye polish in Karma as an eyeliner, mascara and lip shine in Content (or lip2cheek in Diabolique for a fancy night out). I suppose if I ever run out of the living luminizer I might try the mix master but I’d definitely try it before buying it.
My two front teeth were broken in an unfortunate swing accident as a child so they’re all bonding. No teeth whitening for me!
Love the earrings, looking forward to seeing close ups! I’m intrigued to learn more about having your piercings re-opened… did you have them re-pierced? What does that process feel like?
I love how settle your make-up is, I am such a fan of that.
I would have to start using this brand, it would be a blessing during this heat.
PS: love your glasses, I have similar ones.
I loved the fresh glow of your skin so much tha I immediately ordered the RMS “Master Mixer” which I’ve been wearing to work dabbed on the tops of my cheekbones and eyelids (even tho it doesn’t last there….I may try it with primer). I haven’t tried this yet, but I might dab it over the center of my lower lip for extra fullness.
yay! good idea on using primer on the lids, although i think i threw out my urban decay primer because it was so old…
i do notice it creases on my eyelids now though, since it’s so hot.
