Now, your turn! What are you ordering? Any size advice?
Happy shopping 🙂
Aah! So tempting! Great opportunity, thank you!– Prices are good, don’t like final sale 🙁 I have not tried the brand forever, last time was many years ago– I think I am between sizes, I am 5.8 and, sort of, long– Long torso, long arms and legs. I am not sure JPerse cuts for my body type. But the stuff are great! I love brown color, it’s major player in my wardrobe and he has so many lovely brown shades. Nothing I HAVE to have 🙂 but I was thinking about sweatshirts and V-neck long sleeve tops. I have one pair on his sweat pants that is too big on me now and the quality is amazing.
Do you happen to know why it’s not letting me use my store credit? Their chat feature seems to not be available yet?
oh…i have no idea. call them maybe?
i know…i’m not a fan of final sale, but with JP, I generally know what’s going to work on me, or i’ve tried it on in person. but the fit can be tough to deal with sometimes, it just depends on cut/etc.,
i LOVE my sweatpants (wearing them now!), but they do stretch out SO MUCH, i can’t really wear the in public anymore!!
They do stretch! I have mine in size 3, probably need size 1 now– I use them to go to pilates, just for the walk, not class. Yes, the length of the tops depends on the cut. I might be 2 or 3, hard to tell without trying. I might chat with the sale person to find my size.
Woo Hoo! Thank you Grechen. Happy Thanksgiving to me.
And you. Wishing you and yours a lot to be grateful for.
haha! thank you 🙂 i do have a lot to be thankful for .
what are you going to order??
Hi Grechen!
I’m interested in the high gauge henley you mentioned. I’ve been looking for a good henley to layer under open cardigans. However, I noticed that the sizing is “fitted”. In JP terms, do you know how fitted this would be? Do you recommend sizing up? I don’t mind less loose, but I definitely don’t want something skin tight!
Also, have you (or anyone) tried the collage blazer? I’d love some feedback on sizing, structure, if possible!

Last, I thought I would mention that the JP Birkenstocks (including the LE ones you have in black/iron) are now priced at $89.95, and they don’t indicate that they are final sale (they are not in the sale section either). I usually wear a US 8.5 shoe, but a 38 in the regular width Arizona style Birkenstock. However, these are a narrow fit, and I don’t have a narrow foot, so I took my usual shoe size of EUR 39 (which corresponds to an 8-8.5 on the JP site) and they fit very well, and the “narrow width” makes them look less clunky. (Sorry Grechen, I know this goes against your “purchasing out of season” policy, but since Birks are timeless (for me, anyway), it’s okay, right!?)
Thanks for the early access link! Happy Thanksgiving in advance!
i have not tried on that high gauge henley on but i have tried others of that fabrication and felt like they are not fitted. they’re not loose either, but not fitted…if i was ordering it, i’d take my true size.
i have not tried the collage blazer, but actually thought about ordering it and decided against because i’d like something a little more structured. i think it’s a bit more drapey than i’d like right now. if i already had something structured that i liked, i might get it to have a drapey blazer though. i like it. just not for me right now
yes!! birkenstocks are fine to buy off season!! i would. you get a pass on those 🙂
Woah, thanks for the super-fast reply, and your thoughts on the items! The henley sounds like it will work well for what I need, so I will order it. I’m going to email customer service to make sure that the blazer will fit. I like the idea of a drapey blazer, but the description says to size up, so it makes me nervous that it might run tight through the chest/shoulders.
Thanks again!
Thanks for the early access Grechen! Have you tried on the princess seam flare dress? It looks very loose and flowy on the model, I’m wondering if I would take my usual JP dress size or size down for a more tailored fit?
OH NO.
At least the cashmere pants aren’t included. 🙂
I have a question about sizing on the cashmere t-shirt. I normally wear a 2 in JP tops, though in the odd t-shirt (like your favorite u neck…mine favorite too) I will take a size one. Any thoughts on this one?
haha! i know, right? i was going to be in trouble if they were.
i ordered a size 2, i tried it on and i liked the way it fit, loose but nicely fitted at the same time. if you want it to really fit, then i’d go with a size 1…
i haven’t tried that one, but to me, it looks like it’s a bit more flared than the recycled jersey one i bought during the last sample sale (this one), in that one, i sized up to fit my hips, so i’d probably take my normal size in this one. if you don’t have hips, then maybe sizing down will work?
that’s just my gut feeling, though, i’ve never seen it in person.
yeah, that surprised me a little. although sometimes it seems like the sleeves can be a little snug in their blazers. i actually had a size 3 in the hooded fleece blazer and the sleeves fit well; they might not have fit so nicely in the size 2…
Thanks for the heads up and the code – I got the relaxed tshirt in the Quarry Pigment color as well as the Hooded Fleece Zip-up Jacket in Grey. Nothing too fancy, but they will fit my style (and comfort requirements). Hopefully I got the right size in the jacket (same as the tshirt), but it should be fine for casual wear. Thank you Gretchen!
So I finally got through their chat (its easier for me while at work) and you can not use your stored credit online and the sale is not at the store. I kinda think this is a sucky policy since they already dont offer refunds. Anyway I’m updating you all in case someone was hoping to use their store credit.
Just got the measurements for the collage blazer (style WEK2821) in size 3 & 4 in case it helps anyone (seems like the measurements have a 1″ difference between sizes).
Size 3
Bust – 18 ½ in
Waist – 16 ½ in
Shoulder Width – 15in
Sleeve Length – 25in
Size 4
Bust – 19 ½ in
Waist – 17 ½ in
Shoulder Width – 16in
Sleeve Length – 26in
Additional fit info from customer service: It is a bit snug in the arms and pulls in at the waist when the button is closed. I would size up if you’re in between sizes or prefer a more relaxed fit.
Sadly, I don’t think this will work for me, but HTH someone else!!
oh, that is a crappy policy. but now that i think about it, they don’t “mix” their offline & online presence very well. it’s surprising, but not really given how much they protect their image/brand from sales.. they try very hard to cultivate the idea in the store that you have to buy NOW, or you’ll miss out. i’ve been in so many times and seen something and it’s gone the next time. and the SAs just say it’s been sent out, they don’t necessarily know where the items go. i discovered that they go to the outlet, but it seems like they’re missing out on a lot of sales by doing that.
but then again, maybe they have enough crazy obsessed fans that hunt items out at the outlets/sales/etc that it doesn’t matter much. i don’t know.
I bought a white l/s high gauge t-shirt to replace another white JP T I’ve had for a while. Sorry to be so boring 😉
Happy Thanksgiving!
Oh I bet you’re right. I understand what they’re trying to do. Eh it’s ok… it just means I didn’t need it 🙂 looking forward to seeing your purchases. Happy Thanksgiving
Hi Gretchen,
Happy Thanksgiving!
Many thanks for early access to James Perse! What do you think about the weight of the cotton cashmere crew neck — how thin is the fabric? I’m thinking of getting the v-neck version in both black and white. But, when I zoom in on the black color, I think I can see the model’s skin through the fabric, through the ribbed fabric. Is it that thin? I’m very tempted to order because I love the 28″ length — perfect for my very long torso. Wish I could try on first because of the final sale situation… Thanks for your help.
Good morning
I ordered high gage jersey crew black, cut away crew tank white, and sheer slub tee in quarry . My first purchase direct from them, got a shipping confirmation in an hour, impressed.
Best,
E
the cotton/cashmere is definitely thin – you’d have to layer them over a camisole, tank top or t-shirt for sure. i love them though, exactly for that reason, since they’re great for layering with almost anything! final sale is tough though…i agree. in about a week I’ll do another swap post where you guys can mention items you bought that don’t work for you and see if anyone is interested. of course, i can’t guarantee you’ll be able to offload them here, but it’s worth a try!
report back if you get them and let us know what you think.
great! please report back and let us know what you think!!
ha! that’s okay..those are the best things to buy on sale!
I restrained myself and only got a skirt (high gauge twisted knot waist – or something). Got it in a size 1 and am hoping I am not foiled. The live chat person said the fabric was very stretchy so to go with the smaller size -I’m usually a 4 or 6….. I had vowed no final sales….but I had wanted it on shopbop and it sold out…..
Love the brushed hooded fleece dress! Is it short? I’m 5’6″, wonder if it would hit at my knees?
i did not try that one on, sorry!! i’m 5’3″ and the other fleece dress (the raglan sleeve with the v-neck) hit me right above my knees, and i tried on a size 3.
Happy thanksgiving! I know it is your favorite day, so I don’t expect you to be hovering online. My Canadian self still really doesn’t know what to do on Thanksgiving, so I am here, and I am feeling tempted by the military bomber jacket that is on sale. I know you love your fleece bomber so much. Did they have the military in the store when you were in there? Thoughts? Have a very happy day, y’all.
they did have it in the store, it’s very nice, but i never tried it on. i would assume it fits similarly to the fleece bomber jacket though. mine is a size 2, and it doesn’t fit me like the model, because i have hips…i might have sized up if i wanted it to “drape” better, or fall a little lower. and since the description says to size up, i would in that style…
Grechen, now that it’s CyberMonday I’m finally going to pull the trigger on a few JP items. A few questions for you, Ms. JP Expert…
1) What do you know/think about the Draped Twill Pant?
It looks like it could be a fantastic piece for girls like us who work from home but want to be able to look nice when dashing out to the store, picking up kids, traveling by plane, etc. (I refuse to go the sweatpant route for that stuff, if I can help it!) I’m wondering about size on this one. I”m almost always between a 3 & 4 in JP pants. Do you know how it fits? How’s the fabric? And would it look cute with Vince slip-ons? (The online chat CS rep said they are great, but don’t have much give in the fabric. Yet, they have an elastic waist band.) Can you help?
2) What do you think about the Brushed Fleece Dolman Dress?
The lovely JP CS rep said “this dress is true to size, but does grow a little with wear. It is not too tight, if anything just a little more fitted through the hips” – I’m not sure what to do with this. As a person who is always between a 3 & 4, which way should I go? (I think you’ve tried this on or own it, Grechen…what do you think?)
3) Finally, what color of JP tees do you think EVERY girl should own (besides white & black)?
I am thinking of doing a restock on LS tees (white & black), but I’d love to know your thoughts on colors that are worth considering.
THANKS!
Susan
whoa. pressure 🙂 i got this…LOL
1. the draped twill pant – i think i did try these on, and they were small-ish on me with my larger legs, and didn’t seem to have much give in them, contrary to my other JP pants, which have more cotton in them. yes, they would look great with the vince slip-ons, the leg/ankle style is very close to the current twill pants i have and i wear them exclusively with my vince sneakers…if you’re interested in the paper bag wider leg pants at all, i HIGHLY recommend them as a nice lighterweight pant though.
2. if you’re hippy at all/bottom-heavy i would size up. i had to size up to try this on, and felt like it was a little short and snugger than i wanted at my hips still. it will stretch a little, but not too much i don’t think. i have a brushed fleece cowl-neck sweatshirt dress i got a year or so ago on sale that’s similar, and it’ doesn’t give too much. just enough. which is what makes it so great…if you’re between, i say go for the 4.
3. oh…hard question! i actually like all the jp colors because they’re still rather neutral – but right now, i really love the “seaport” – the light blue – and i always like the “shadow” color. for the sale tees, i love the “memory” and “quarry” pigment colors. they’re really nice in person…
hope that helps!! let me know what you go with 🙂
Thanks, Grechen! I love your honesty and unbiased advice.
It’s a very JP day. Right now I’m wearing a shadow casual v-neck (size 3) from years ago under my brushed fleece short-sleeve hooded tunic also from years ago (as I recall we both bought it during that sale – but mine is a 4 and I like it big/slouchy with leggings).
I think I’m going to limit myself to a single piece, in the interest of not over-buying.
I”m ordering the Brushed Fleece Dolman Dress in black, 4 — which I’ll wear with my black suede Vince Bowens and an Inhabit cardigan or Black booties & tights now (the weather’s weird here in Colorado…20’s one day, 50’s the next, but almost always sunny), or my turquoise/black tie-dyed Vans slip-ons and a fun necklace when we get closer to spring.
I was really, really tempted by the Vintage Fleece Sweatpants in denim. All the experience with stretching out is OK with me. I could order a 3 and know they would still work when stretched. I am saved from temptation, since the color I want isn’t available in a 3. 😉
Thanks again. Can’t wait to see your OOTD posts when your shipment arrives!
