Besides the fact that I’m totally geeking out over Garmentory’s site design, the concept is incredibly intriguing, and the selection of products/boutiques is really good:
Basically, Garmentory is a shopping site featuring smaller, independent boutiques & designers (yeah, that’s been done before…) but the kick is that the inventory is sale items and YOU control the pricing. Well, not entirely, but you make an offer on an item (limited sizes & colors are available, usually there’s only one of each item) and the boutique either accepts or rejects it. I’m assuming there’s some negotiation involved, but I love the idea.
You can shop by boutique, brand, or everything – here I chose to shop from Thistle & Clover, a boutique in Brooklyn, NY. Uh, that Ace & Jig dress has been on my mental wishlist all summer…
Here’s a look at more product details and how to “make an offer”:
They feature all the cool kids brands like Baggu, Ace & Jig, Demy Lee, Dace, Whit, Won Hundred, Rachel Comey, Rag & Bone, and there’s even some James Perse in there! Most of the boutiques are located in Canada, so I’m not sure what that means in terms of shipping, pricing, etc., but I’m sure more US-based boutiques will join over time. I seriously love everything about this site/concept and look forward to watching it grow.
What do you think about Garmentory’s concept? is this something you would try? Oh, and if you sign up for their emails by 10/5 you’ll be entered to win $500 to shop. Yes, please!
An interesting concept .. which I would try after carefully reviewing their return policy for sure.
Monica.
I love the concept, especially the “make an offer” part! But, like Monica P, I’m going to investigate thoroughly!
i’ve asked my contact there to provide some insight – i would guess that each boutique has their own return policy, but more than likely, items are final sale. so i guess you’ll have to determine if the price is low enough to not be able to return it…
Thanks for the update, Grechen. We’ll be waiting to hear more!

If the boutique I purchase from is the same location as where I am, is it possible to try them in store and purchase the items online?
Hi Whitney!
Thanks for asking! I don’t think it will be possible to try it on in-store. A lot of the times the items aren’ even on the floor. But if you have any questions about fit – please email us at [email protected]. We promise to get back to you with answers ASAP.
