I don’t know about you, but I’m all sale-d out for a while. Although I know this won’t be the end of the massive discounts & coupon codes. I’ve been VERY VERY good though and am not buying things I don’t need, but I did wait specifically for a sale/code at Endless so I can get my next pair of Swedish Hasbeens, and today they’re offering $30 off orders of $100 or more + free overnight shipping (the best thing about Endless in my opinion. they do also have a great selection)
AND…Inhabit NY is having yet ANOTHER sale. This time, the whole site is marked 50-80% off. I don’t know what to do with myself…I’m tempted to get both the stretch cashmere and cotton scoop neck sweaters:
The Cashmere sweater is $148 and the cotton, $78
Finally, Net-a-Porter has started their end-of-season markdowns…
MIke & Chris jacket – $100
Lanvin shoes – $728
DKNY messenger bag – $748
I am SO excited because I got the draped cardigan at INHABIT for only $58! And…the cowl-neck pullover that you raved about for only $98! And how can you beat free shipping and gift wrap!!! Now my husband doesn’t have to figure out what to get for me. (tee hee…)
LOL you will LOVE both of those!! i’m so glad you’re getting into inhabit now too π
I know! I was so anxious that they’d be sold-out before I got to checkout that I almost took a Valium! lol ; )
wow it almost makes me worried about Inhabit . . . (and thanks to you I got the double layered dress I’ve been eyeing and the silk knit cardi just now).
I just wish they would improve their color patch though! (their taste in color is not bad but it is just way too off)
i totally agree about the color patches- i’ve been thinking about putting together a “color guide” at some point, just made up of my pieces and anyone else who wants to contribute…i’m always happy with the colors i end up with, but i do wish it wasn’t such a guessing game.
and congrats on your purchases π
I totally agree! And I sent them an email message asking them to improve their size chart–at least on my monitor, it’s literally unreadable! (and btw, what color is “fossil”???)
“Fossil” is a nice color- it’s a brownish greyish mushroom. Does that help at all? It’s a darker color.
So, am I the only one who finds Inhabit to be subpar in terms of quality? I hate to rain on the parade, but I’m confused as to why I’m the only one who seems to feel this way. Just wondering, am I missing something? I’ve bought a few Inhabit pieces and the cashmere is pretty disappointing. The cotton pieces hold up well, but the cashmere is pretty flimsy and pills. Just wondering…
Thanks, Lala, for the color info. As for the quality, I can’t say since I’m a newbie and don’t have my order yet. But I’ll weigh-in when it arrives!
i can only speak from my personal experience and with the caveat that i really only own inhabit cashmere (i do have one theory cashmere sweater and one t luxury cashmere sweater) so maybe i don’t have much to compare it with…but i can’t imagine buying cashmere any more from any other brand. i was also under the impression that most cashmere pills, so i’m not surprised by the pilling; but i do wash my cashmere instead of dry clean it, so i think that contributes to the pilling. that said, i don’t find it to be unbearable…i do keep meaning to buy a sweater shaver or something. as for flimsy, the stretch cashmere is relatively thin, and stretchy, but that’s what i love so much about it – the 100% cashmere pieces are much more substantial and don’t have much give, maybe you’d like those better?
i don’t know…i really really really love all of my inhabit pieces – i think i have 7 cotton items and 6 cashmere – and have never been disappointed or concerned about quality. but i am only one π i’m always interested to hear others experiences…
Grechen, you’re absolutely right- most cashmere does pill. I guess I’ve found Inhabit pills more than others. Lately I’ve been getting more into merino wool as it’s so substantial. Unfortunately, it lacks that super light softness that we love in cashmere! My best quality cashmere piece is Stuart + Brown. I bought a cashmere hoody that looks super delicate (kind of lacey/eyelety) but has held up unbelievably well over the past few years. Anyway, as you said- I’m only one. π
oh…i’ve wanted to try stewart+brown cashmere for quite some time and never have the $$ when they come up on sale…thanks for reminding me to look into their cashmere too!
i like merino wool also, but prefer cashmere because it’s softer – i think warmer also – and i can wash it at home, i don’t have to take it to the dry cleaner.
oops…yes, it’s Stewart + Brown. sorry for the misspelling above! definitely check out their cashmere- it’s fabulous. i love the softness and warmth of cashmere too…and by the way, i wash all of my merino wool at home! i hardly take anything to the dry cleaner, just things like slacks/trousers and some dresses…
oh really? you wash your wool at home? how? i didn’t know you could do that π
I usually put my merino wool in the washer on the delicate cycle. If your machine has a sweater/wool cycle, even better. Unfortunately I have made the mistake once or twice of doing this and shrinking a sweater; however, I also hand wash a lot of sweaters/merino wool and then roll them in a towel and lay them flat to dry. Some merino wool really holds up well to washing- I have a Skin & Threads crew neck top (from Beklina :)) that I threw in the washer and accidentally in the drier and it’s still perfect! It’s a bit trial and error, but you’ll always be safe hand washing.
i have a skin & threads cardigan from beklina!!! i would love to be able to hand wash that since i wear it so often in the Fall…thanks so much for your suggestions π
Is Inhabit really slow to ship items out? I ordered a sweater for my wife last week and still have not received a shipping confirmation email or a response to my inquiry about the status of the order
hi dave – i have ordered from inhabit many times and i have never received a shipping confirmation, but i have always received my orders within a week or week and a half. i do know that they have been backlogged since the sample sale, and based on e-mails from others, they are not handling communication very well….unfortunately, all i can say is wait – you should either receive your order, or a refund if it wasn’t available
