Lily Tomlin in her Clergerie Vicoleo wedges (image via Man Repeller via Jimmy Kimmel Live)
How wonderful is that picture? Lily’s outfit gives me life right now. ESPECIALLY HER SHOES. And even better that it appears they’ve been dyed to match her suit, because, why not?? As far as I know, Clergerie doesn’t make a monotone pair of those Vicoleo straw wedges, only black.
I have been wearing Clergerie shoes for about 15 years and I still have my first pair (flat mary janes with a square toe), 8 pairs altogether; you’ve seen my recent pair a lot lately. They definitely don’t appeal to most people, but the platform styles, colors, and the fact that I know they will be comfortable make them the perfect shoe brand for me. It is tricky to find the right size in some styles, and sometimes you just can’t get it right, but when you do, they fit like a glove; like they were made for your foot. Best of all, Clergerie shoes are made for WEARING and walking. Seriously. I have my eyes on these next…
I wear a size 8 and always take a size 38.5 (French sizing) in Clergerie. When they fit correctly, there’s no break in period, no rubbing, no pain, nothing but comfort and style (haha…they’re not everyone’s favorite – my husband HATES my Clergerie shoes – but I always get a lot of compliments/attention when I wear them out).

I love her whole look! Oh, Barney’s carries them in tan…kind of perfect for spring and summer!
What I really love about this pic is how they are sharing a chair just like I’d do with my bff when I was a little girl! I love their HBO show, it’s nice to see 2 older women being the main characters. And I’ve always had a girl crush on Fonda even though I’m probably more like Tomlin.
I had a Cleregie many years ago (a black maryjane flatform). I have no clue what happened to those shoes lol. It was when I was married so I lived in a bigger home then – likely got taken to consignment when I was moving out upon separation. I didn’t wear them as much then but I probably would now.
yes, Lily’s suit with the concert tee is perfection. and her glasses…
yes, i love that too!!
oh, a maryjane flatform would be SO COOL right now!! i’d totally wear those 😉
I got a major score on the Outnet last summer of a pair of Clergerie loafers for $72. Buttery soft leathery, gorgeous, very comfortable. They were weirdly described–but otherwise just a classic shoe– which is why I think I was able to get them in my size. I ordered what the Outnet said was a 8.5, and the shoe that came was a FR 38.5, which much to my surprise fit well. So I’m slightly befuddled on sizing (I’m otherwise always a Euro 39, which I guess is different from French sizing?)
Anyway, there was a super cute pair at Shopbop that is now sold out in my size, so any temptation to add to my collection has been banished for now.
yes, euro and french sizing is different – i’m usually a 39 in euro. sometimes clergerie shoes have a range of fits LOL – like sometimes i feel like a 38 or a 39 would have fit me better in certain styles, which is why i appreciate that they offer half sizes, but it does lead to some shoes being either too big or too small, because i can never try them on in person.
