Thanks to a tip from a reader (thanks Melissa!), I’m now obsessed with these Clarks clogs:
They’re only $61 on the Clarks.uk website (I couldn’t find them available on any US website) and a great alternative to the more expensive Swedish Hasbeens – although I only paid about $100 for my similar clogs from Swedish Hasbeens last year.
(my Swedish Hasbeens are a “nude” color, but this brown version is on sale for $119 at Endless with free two-day shipping)
The Clarks look exceptionally comfortable, and I love the detailing, including the side slits, and added grommets. They’re also available in tan, and kind of an antique white, which would both be very wearable with Summer dresses. Yum!!
I reaaaally want the black Swedish Hasbeens covered super high clog…and the high heeled jodphur in nude…so gorgeous! Interestingly even though I live in Norway they cost even more here-about $250 for the clog and $350 for the boot, and that isn’t including custom and taxes 🙁
Luckily I’ll be in the US this summer and can try them out-have you read some of the reviews? Many have complained about the stiff leather and that they are not kind to those of us with high arches…Another person said something broke off the shoe after just two weeks…So, I’m pretty happy about the Clarks clog discovery (even if I did pay WAY more for my shoe with import costs it was about $135!!)
i have three pairs of swedish hasbeens – the leather is stiff, but i noticed it more on my closed toe sandals (the ones pictured in the post) than on any others. i’m thinking of using olive oil on them, it’s supposed to change the color a bit, but maybe it will help soften up the leather too? i don’t find it to be a problem at all, they’re very comfortable. and i haven’t had any quality issues…but i don’t have high arches, so i can’t speak to that…
Glad to hear they are so comfy! I have also heard the suggestion with olive oil, but I would be terrified to ruin the shoes…
yeah, i’ve been putting off using the olive oil for fear of messing something up…but swedish hasbeens recommends it, so what can possibly happen?? and i would like to make them a little darker and not quite so “new” looking. maybe i’ll do a before/after pic here…
THANKS! now i love these clogs too!!! such a good price but only in the UK? what’s the secret in getting them here?
i searched and searched for these clogs on a website based here in the US, but didn’t find them…i’ll keep my eye out!!
On the olive oil thing, when I was in high school (think 70s) we usually oiled light tan shoes to make them darker and richer looking. I don’t think we used olive oil though…baby oil maybe ? Actually it had to be baby oil b/c we used to slather ourselves with it too. 🙂
