I do not own ONE chunky sweater. I love them, but I guess I’ve hesitated buying one because I don’t want to add more bulk to my already “bulky” frame; I convinced myself the style wouldn’t work on me. The chunky/Fisherman sweater “trend” always comes around every Winter and this year I REALLY want to try it since I am a little less bulky than last year. I would DIE for the By Malene Birger cardigan (I know I would wear it constantly), but it’s way out of my price range. The Funktional sweater at Shopbop is next in line because I love the curved hem (tends to make me look a little taller).
Do you own any chunky/Fisherman sweaters? Where did you get your favorite one?
I love the look of a chunky knit sweater but generally stay away from them because they do nothing good for my busty frame.
I think it helps a little if the texture of the sweater isn’t so 3-d. 🙂
J. Crew has a nice fisherman sweater that I would consider picking up.
If I had to choose I would pick up the Alexa Chung for Madewell – at least is 100% wool.
I would never ever pay 195$ for sweater made of acrylic (Funktional).
yes, i saw the j crew one…that’s my problem with these sweaters, the 3-d texture! and they tend to be really heavy and thick, something that i’d get to wear one time during an Austin winter.
Club Monaco has a cute one….not too expensive. I picked it up but I am not sure about the look on me. I am a bit busty and I don’t think it looks as good on me as it does on someone with a flatter chest. I kind of feel like I look like a “mom” in it. (I am a mom but I try not to dress like one :))
Oh! I miss having a club Monaco store nearby – I used to find some good pieces there. I feel like they’re a brand you have to try on in person though, so I haven’t bought anything through shopbop…but I think I did see a CM chunky sweater there.
I agree some pieces fit large and others very small. I am tall so I find that things are often cut too short for me. They do have some amazing pieces right now! Did you see the Gaby and the Jenelle Cardigan or Isabella skirt? I have a store ten minutes from me. Dangerously close! LOL
I can’t think of a chunky one that I own but I do have a nice cashmere vintage cable knit I love to reach for!
I love the look, but like you, I don’t want to add any bulk to my figure (bulk…what an ugly word!). But I did find a fisherman knit sweater in 100% cotton from J. Crew that I love because it’s not at ALL bulky, it fits closely, and it’s not too hot for me (and, BONUS, it’s now an extra 30%off of $49.99!): http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Navigation/Sale/AllProducts/PRDOVR~47171/99102410230/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20~~~20+17+4294967133~90~~~~~~~/47171.jsp
