(Warby Parker Eli in Crystal – with my dad in the background!)
(Warby Parker Webb in Whiskey Tortoise Matte)
It’s time for me to get a new pair of glasses. With progressive lenses this time; welcome to over-40!!!
Warby Parker has a showroom in Dallas, so while I had some help, I took my dad and step-mom over there to see if I could find a pair of frames I like. And since their progressive lenses are pretty affordable ($200 + the cost of the frames), I think I’ll get everything done there.
Now, I just have to decide on the frames. I’m actually quite torn. I would say I’m leaning a little towards the crystal frames, because they’re interesting, and I like the shape. But I also really love the Webb.
So, please help! Which frames do you prefer? Have you tried Warby Parker? Do you have progressive lenses??
I like both frames on you but you look amazing in the crystal clear ones. I am jealous because I cannot pull off light colored frames (I have brown hair)
Is it your father behind you? Very handsome man.
thank you!!
i’m actually getting ready to go a little darker with my hair this afternoon…i didn’t think about that affecting my frame choices, but now i can see that it may.
I like the crystal clear ones better on you, but they both look good !
I like the crystal ones – not everybody could wear them, and they look lovely on you! And yes, I’ve been wearing progressive lenses for (ahem…) a long time – I really like them!
Crystal – not as heavy looking and open up your face! Love them on you.
I kinda like the black ones…
One vote for the Webb – the dark are striking on you!
The second pair, I think the darker ones suits you perfectly
I own 3 pair of Warby Parker glasses and they are fantastic–stylish, durable, and affordable! While I like the darker pair, I agree with the others that the crystal ones are more interesting and not everyone could pull them off. So I vote for the latter 🙂
I really like the crystal frames, too! It’s a nice contrast since you wear a lot of black and they do go great with your coloring.
crystal frames look like goggles 🙂 I love the dark ones on you!
I like the dark ones! They’re bold. I’d wear them myself.
I prefer the dark to the clear – I like the definition of a frame vs something that recedes. But that’s a strong personal preference (I don’t even like light metal frames though I much prefer light metal jewelry…)
I prefer the Webb. They are more classic and look great on you.
I have a very strong aversion to clear frames though because I think that is one horrible trend from the 1980s/90s that should die a painful death. As a child who wore glasses and had an oversized pair of clear frames, I don’t think anyone should ever choose to wear them!
I like them both on you .. but I personally would lean toward the crystal .. I haven’t seen frames like that and find them interesting.

I like the dark ones (and not only because I wear dark frames). I think they set off well against your lighter hair and sort of balance your face against your clothes since you seem to wear darker clothes. I don’t know how much you plan to darken your hair though or if that is just temporary? Looking at both frames again, I think the darker frames just pop in a good way.
Excellent timing! I wear reading glasses much of the time, even when not reading:). I have tried progressive lenses, but they make me dizzy if I am moving around. I like the dark ones on you – somehow they seem more Grechen. But that’s a quick reaction. I can imagine that both would look good.
The Webb! I was just cleaning my Warby Parkers today and man they are sturdy! Dropped them numerous times and they are sturdy sturdy! I’ve got the “Sloan” from a few years back. I also love that they were able to accommodate a thicker lens, as I have terribly eyesight. Had to pay extra, but for style points, it’s worth it.

I like the dark ones. I think they frame your face really nicely, and I always like the contrast of dark frames.
The crystal ones are great looking but I always worry about them holding up over the years. I had a pair of translucent blue frames (ahhhh the 80s) and they kind of yellowed as time went on. Not to say that these will, but I’d be wary.
I have two pairs of Warby’s–Winston in Grey Fade and Fletcher in a matte crystal. I think the crystal ages me and looks fairly granny. You don’t have gray hair, but I really like how the whisky plays off your coloring.
Both pairs get taken on and off a lot, because I only need them for distance. They are many years old, and have held up extremely well.
Did you try Winston? The squared off bottoms might play well off your chin…
I prefer the Webb on you. The crystal glasses are a little too trendy for me I know I would get tired of them after awhile. I think if you are going to wear glasses, make a statement with them. I love my WP glasses and get compliments every time I wear them (most days I wear contacts). These are the ones I have: https://www.warbyparker.com/eyeglasses/women/linwood/violet-magnolia
Good luck and have fun chosing!
They both look really good on you. I prefer the darker pair however I think you should get the crystal pair partially because I love clear frames but can’t pull them off so I can live vicariously through you and also because your outfits are rather neutral and simple, I think a “funkier” pair of glasses would add a nice something to what you are wearing.
I think you could buy either look and be happy but personally i don’t feel that either of those frames fits in a way that highlights your pretty face the best.
You rock the crystal. Not everyone can (myself included.). Voting for Team Crystal 🙂
I prefer the dark. The clear look like cheap play glasses to me.
CRYSTAL!!!!
I know a lot of people who use Warby Parker and love it. I prefer the dark on you. The crystal is different but look like goggles, the second pair give a professional look!
I prefer the dark on you. I just got new glasses, dark purple, progressive, and I love them. A tip I received was try a style that goes up on the outside edge, it’s lifting for your face. I thought it made a difference on me, but might be my imagination.
They both look great, but I kind of really love the crystal on you. You look like a 1980’s New York gallery owner, and I mean that in the best possible way. Kind of Japanese-y avant garde. Would look especially awesome with your Black Crane pants and Oak dress.
Which pair makes you feel the best? I usually have a gut reaction and know which one is really “special”for myself.
I’m team crystal, I think they look great. You could pull off either, though. Your hair looks fantastic, by the way. I really like that length on you.
I LOVE the crystal ones!! So cool!
I vote for the crystal. I love clear frames- not everyone can pull them off, but they are so striking on the right person. If you are among the lucky, I say wear them!
Hi-I vote for the Webb. I agree the Crystal is “interesting” & different, but not really in a good way. The Webb looks good on your face & it’s classic but not boring. I’m always a fan of a dark Tortoiseshell too-
😉
You look great in both but I feel like the dark glasses are more timeless. I think it would be a great addition to your “basics” collection 🙂
Love the crystal on you, but you made good choices, both suit you!
I love the darker ones! THOSE!
PS – Happy belated birthday!

Being the inveterate people pleaser that I am, and also being born into a family of non-deciders, I’ll say, “I really love both on you!” (Truly!) I’ve had great success with Warby Parker, I love their business model, and would highly recommend them….if I could make a decision. 😉
Crystal! Crystal! Crystal!
