I tried this dress on at Anthropologie on Sunday and I. Loved. It. It looked great on me (if I do say so myself…) and was just really easy to wear, but I couldn’t stomach the $100 price tag. And now, it’s on sale…for $49!!!! (my friend Joyce, who also works at Anthropologie *bonus* let me know that it was going to be on sale). But I’m not going to get it.
I’ve been struggling with my personal style since I moved to Austin; first because I’ve gained weight, and second because it’s so ….. HOT here. All I want to wear are simple, lightweight cotton dresses – NOT jersey, like all the dresses I have now. Jersey is hot, and clingy in this heat. But jersey is more my style. Minimal is my style, not colorful and frilly. And even though I loved this dress on me, I know it’s not really my style. I felt kind of “fake” in it. Black is my style.
THIS is my style:
(I’d wear it with heels though…but I’m not getting this dress either) And even though I know that the Anthropologie dress above is more flattering on me, it didn’t feel like me.
uh I totally caved and got both dresses–in navy and yellow, just have to decide which one to keep now…

I admire your resolve to stick to your style, it must have been real tempting to get the dress when it is so flattering on you.
