Even though I sold my “original” Alexander Wang Rocco duffel (because it was too heavy and didn’t have a shoulder strap), I’m constantly thinking that I’d love to have a new one; I still love the style/shape & can’t resist the studs on the bottom. The bag is still heavy, but having the shoulder strap helps a lot, and if you can still find the smooth leather version with resin studs on the bottom, it’s much lighter than the other versions.
And I wasn’t sure how I felt about the new smaller “Rockie” style until I saw it in person yesterday at Barney’s. Now, I’m DEFINITELY sure that I love it. I tried on and played with the Cayenne version, and it seems pretty easy to get into (although it lacks the outside pocket of the larger version) and looked really cute on 😉
Here are some places to find it online now – I’ll update this post with more as I find them.
Shopbop (Cayenne & Black)
Saks (all three colors)
Alexander Wang (Cayenne & Black)
If you’re still in love with the larger “Rocco” bag, here’s the post on where to find that one (I’m still updating it with bags on sale as I find them)
What do you think? Do you love the smaller version? Or are you completely over this bag??
I have Wang’s Morgan Hobo, which I love. It fits comfortably over the arm. It has two outside hidden zipper pockets. They have it at Barney’s: http://www.barneys.com/Alexander-Wang-Morgan-Hobo/00505014216268,default,pd.html. It is heavier than a lot of my bags, but I don’t find it as heavy as my MJ Christy.
I am so changeable. Right now, I’m wanting to receive my Clare Vivier messenger tote, which I havent’ gotten yet. And I’m kind of craving a Rebecca Minkhoff MAB in a color. I haven’t decided which would go with most of my stuff, but I’d love something bright.
i love the morgan hobo – thought about trying to get it on sale, but decided to pass…
i think that’s why i was drawn so much to the rockie in cayenne – it’s such a great color – not red, and not orange…
and i normally don’t crave color, but maybe i am right now. just a bit.
I find that reddish colors are often my accent color of choice in shoes and bags. It truly works with almost everything and it so great with neutrals as a pop. Great choice!
Now that I own a Rocco, I think I would totally love the Rockie, the Rocco seems just a tad too big 😀
I ordered the Rockie from shopbop and returned it because it was really just so tiny. I’ve gone for the larger Rocco, as I just think a larger bag is more flattering (good old optical illusion of a big accessory making the wearer look smaller!). It was super cute though with everything miniaturised. Some people will like it – would suit a very petite, birdlike girl who could carry off it’s more mini look!
ordered cayenne rockie from saks and LOVE it!! i’m 5’1″ and find it the perfect size for everyday. I also have a black rocco with rosegold and think both are great! I take Rocco when I have to carry a little more 🙂
I own it in black and am actually wearing it in today’s post. It’s SO much lighter than the rocco and is a smaller and less overwhelming size. And the way these things are made they last forever. It’s a purchase I will never regret!

i love this outfit! you styled it perfectly, the bag is gorgeous, and such a great size.
thanks grechen!
gretchen. exactly what color would you describe “mercury”. i see that the rocco is on sale on alexanderwang.com. but the mercury looks more on the white side than a gray side. please help! i want to get it if you think its more gray-ish
it’s definitely more gray-ish than white. a very light gray, but definitely gray!
