My go-to shirt in warmer weather is usually my really old Banana Republic boatneck 3/4 sleeve top – in white. I’m not a fan of baring my upper arms, and I love the flattering neckline & 3/4 sleeve length of this shirt. I think I paid $13 on sale, and I kick myself every time I wear it for not buying another white one, and at least a black, if not all of the colors. So of course, I’m always looking for a good substitute, and have looked at this one from J Crew online a few times:
But J Crew t-shirts don’t always work on me; they are too big around the shoulders and stomach when I try to make them fit at my hips leaving them all bunched up and weird looking. Now that J Crew is offering 20% off all knits & tees + free shipping (the shirt is $28), I’m tempted to order at least one of these boat neck tops, but hesitate because of the fit issue I’ve always had. Does anyone have this top? Does it fit well?
Oh, and according to @shoppingsmycardio on twitter this morning, the free shipping ONLY applies to knits & tees in your order, if you add anything else, you’ll be charged shipping. Kind of sneaky J Crew.
I have that top, and runs a little big. It is actually looser around the middle than on my arms, which I am hoping will stretch out. It’s also fairly long. It’s not perfect, but it’s one of the cheapest striped tees I’ve seen this season; and with 20% off, it’s not too much of an investment.
Hey fellow arm-hater, I bought a ton of these a few months ago and they are fantastic. Finally, a t-shirt not made out of that wispy crap that everyone seems to be using these days, and they make me feel a teensy bit French.
LOL…talbot’s huh? the only time i go in there is when i’m with my step-mom 😉
that’s cute actually, and i love the colors. now i have to find an excuse to go in there by myself….
thanks for your input nicole – i wonder if it will shrink a bit? maybe that would solve some problems…
PS–yeah, I know, Talbot’s. I never go in there either, but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the stuff. I wouldn’t dress head to toe in it, but I will admit I bought a few other things…They were running a promo on the shirts when I bought them so I think I got them for 14.99 or maybe 19.99.
I actually like the way my J Crew tees fit. I have a bit of a tummy and so they work well for me, plus, I’m tall (5’10”) and so the length is great! I saw the striped sailor tee yesterday and they had several colors in-store. Cute!
