Splendid leggings | $55 at Shopbop (I’m wearing the normal weight version, but I also recommend the heavier version for cooler weather. It was HOT yesterday.)
H&M mini skirt | I wear this over the leggings to hold me in a bit more, and to make sure my ass is sufficiently covered 🙂
Madewell top | $75 – I’m wearing a small. There’s a black version now!!
Vince blair haircalf sneakers | $295 at Shopbop (size down 1/2 size). There’s a new perforated leather version now (they’re $100 cheaper).
Alexander Wang Rockie bag | gift from Azalea – use code GRECHEN25 for 25% off your first order at Azalea
I may or may not have mentioned this here, but last month I started a new freelance “job” as the StyleSetter blogger for the Domain mall here in Austin. I was super-excited about this because first, I love the Domain – it’s my home away from home – and second, I am proud to be representing an over-40 point of view on the blog, something that is always missing on most “corporate” fashion blogs and/or social media campaigns.
Yesterday I went to meet a friend for lunch and scope out the new stuff in stores (I may have found my new hat, at Athleta, of all places!), and she snapped a quick outfit picture for me. Hence the laugh – have you ever noticed that when someone else takes a picture of you they smile, so you’ll smile? Well, she smiles & tries to make me laugh, which always ends up with me with one of those full-out laugh looks. Which is not altogether bad.
AND, I did actually have lip color on, but as I was sitting waiting for my friend, I was accosted by a large golden retriever who proceeded to lick my face and everything else he could find! Now, I don’t mind that from my “puppy”, but from someone else’s dog I was a little freaked out. So I promptly wiped my face with an antibacterial wipe.
A note on the bag – Azalea is one of my partners (they have been for years) and sent me the Alexander Wang Rockie bag as a gift. We did agree earlier this year that if I sold a certain number of Alexander Wang bags over time that they’d send me one, but there was no expectation of a “positive review” or any obligation on my part at all. Since I sold my original Alexander Wang Rocco bag, I’d been craving the newer version with the shoulder strap (the original didn’t have a shoulder strap, remember that?). Then, when the smaller Rockie came out, I knew this was the one for me. I have two beautiful large black bags already, so a smaller one was in order, and the Rockie is the perfect size. It’s actually not that small; it fits all my essentials beautifully, and I carry around a lot of crap! I’m going to do a video review next week, so keep your eye out, but in the mean time if you’ve been wanting a Rockie, check out Azalea’s selection of new colors and use code GRECHEN25 for 25% off (if you’ve never placed an order with them before).
If you don’t have experience with Alexander Wang, the bag is HEAVY, but not heavy enough to bother me. Then again, I’m used to heavy bags, and like I said, I carry around a lot of crap. So heavy doesn’t bother me too much. I do love it though, it’s a beautiful bag, and very practical for every day wear.
Happy Wednesday! (don’t forget to shop the Nordstrom sale – did you see my favorite James Perse sale picks?)
Well, just love this look and how fun that you took the photo representing your other spot! Love it!! Our weather has gotten a bit chillier! (Coats up here! 🙂 ) Anyway, this inspires me and would totally be the kind of look I like! Goes from yoga/ or whatever, workout wise, to errands to my online job. Very cute and totally the style I like! Always inspiring, Grechen! Thank you always! Kim
Congrats on the gig. It sounds great. I started salivating, when I saw the Splendid store in the background. I love their super soft tops. I checked out the JP sale, but it still can’t compete with my Maine Marshalls. I’ll do a little shopping in Vegas this week. Cross your fashion fingers. I might even find a super score.
fingers crossed!!
i did buy the 3/4 sleeve ruched top at nordstrom, but that’s all i found to spend my $$ on!
thanks kim! it’s so easy…and ridiculously comfortable!
