As you know, I have a couple of Jerome Dreyfuss bags, a Momo in red and a Billy in burgundy. I’ve had others, but I sold them for one reason or another (now I wish I still had them…of course…). But since it’s been a while since I had a new bag (I know, not really, but I have a problem), I’ve been thinking about what I’d get if I could, and it’s definitely that linen Jacques tote from Shopbop. I saw it in person yesterday and it is perfection. Ideally, it’s for spring/summer, since it’s linen, but I’d use it all the time. The pattern is subtle but noticeable, and it’s so comfortable to carry. Unlike my Billy.
I hate to say that because I love my Billy bag, but it’s a bit awkward to carry the way I want to. Until I found this blog yesterday though, whose writer inspired me to attach a long strap to my Billy, and viola, I have a new bag!!
I don’t know why I didn’t think of doing that sooner, but no matter, I’m doing it now, and it’s breathed new life into my Billy. Anyway, I’m such a fan of Jerome Dreyfuss (and his wife, Isabel Marant), and am constantly in love with everything he does. His website has definitely improved over the years, and you can now buy almost everything there, but I’ve also compiled a list of 17 other places online to buy Jerome Dreyfuss in the Designer Directory.
Of course, most of the bags end up on sale, so although they’re totally worth their full price, you don’t have to PAY full price if you do some searching. Forzieri has a great selection of Jerome Dreyfuss and although most of the sale bags are sold out, there are still some left. Shopbop has a black billy on sale, and Hampden is offering 20% off their selection with code GRECHEN20.
