I’m not sure I would say “love” exactly, but I do like a nice plaid sometimes, especially in the more muted tones, like the Suno top or Current/Elliot jeans above. I’m not sure I would ever wear a jacket such as the R13 red plaid one above, but if I was going to wear a red plaid jacket, that would be the one; as un-traditional as possible in shape I think.
What about you, do you wear plaid? How do you wear it?
I love plaid! Part of it is that I grew up in CT in the 80s – I liked it then, dang it, I like it now 🙂 Heck, I still have a black watch plaid wool duffel coat from 1989 that I can wear again 😉 I bought 2 plaid scarves this year (lightweight) because I wanted “something” plaid but flexible in use. I like the plaid of that Theory dress but that shape is not so good on me….I do think there’s a plaid for everyone 🙂
I’ve had a weakness for Black Watch plaid–J. Crew had a schoolboy blazer that sold out too quickly for me to get it.
I’ve also been coveting these plaid silk Steven Alan pants. They’re a graphic enough plaid that I think they would have more longevity.

I hated plaid for decades, but have recently started wearing it again. I like it in small, style “doses.” If I wear too much plaid in one outfit, I look like a big blanket.
love those SA pants!!! they’re quite graphic though, not sure i’d love those on my bottom half 😉 that’s a lot of attention !!!
Jen, I like those SA pants too, and agree about their “longevity.” Thanks for sharing.
i do actually have a cp shades lightweight shirt that is “soft” plaid in neutral colors that i love, but haven’t given other plaids much thought. i did have that zara top in and out of my cart a few times, but i’m not sure that’s really “plaid” – it’s more checked…
Grechen, I may have that same CP shades top. Is it linen? (Another eBay score!)
no, it’s very lightweight cotton and it has a very long hem in the back, like a mullet 😉 i have a gray flannel version in the same shape.
It sounds sweet, and the mullet image made me smile. I love anything that CP Shades makes. I wish, though, that they’d start selling online!
ha! i know, i really wish it was easier to find their stuff online – aside from calypso and ebay.
Cute stuff! I have .. zero plaid in my closet. I really should shop more for this versatile print.
Monica.
Forgot the other plaid I got this year – plaid wool tote with leather handles, great for work, like a pendleton blanket on my shoulder 🙂 http://www.amazon.com/Original-Penguin-Mens-Tote-Plaid/dp/B00EZS42HK
nice!! i forgot about pendleton…they do some nice plaids, and other prints. just soooooo expensive!!
That Tibi skirt is lovely.
yes, now that’s a plaid i can get behind!
I like number 4.
I especially love 2 and 6. I pinned a pic of Katie Holmes wearing a cute plaid top by Isabel Marant on Pinterest and I’ve been searching for a dupe ever since. The one by Zara comes really close (*heart beats faster). I’ve always been a fan of plaid, so when it became “in” again (does a classic ever truly go “out”?), I picked up a few things: A pair of Lauren by Ralph Lauren pants that need some tapering from the calf down, a cozy oversized plaid scarf, and a red plaid flannel shirt from Old Navy that I would swear feels like it could be 4 times the price I paid for it! It’s become my uniform this winter.
