I’m taking a little liberty with the term “kitten heels” because I really don’t like “true” kitten heels very much (just a very slight heel, an inch or less – like the Givenchy’s below); they seem kind of in-decisive. BUT, the comfort level draws me in, and some styles are edgy/interesting enough to NOT look “old” or out of date – again, like the Givenchy’s. Like everyone else, I first feel in love with the new kitten heel via the Acne blue suede Poe pump (number 3), but I’m beginning to think I could see myself wearing a simple black or “nude” pair with boyfriend or skinny jeans. Miss Sophie does it well…and Zara seems like a great option for those of us just wanting to try them out.

Val, I’m combining this with your “find me” request since you were SO SPECIFIC about what you needed. I hope the red & leopard pumps I found you meet your requirements. I realize they’re not exactly kitten heel, but they’re still a good low-heel. And under $100!! And size 11! 🙂
What do you think about the “new” kitten heel trend? Will you wear a very low kitten heel? or stick to a mid-heel? Do you wear pumps?
I may be the only one, but I adore the traditional low kitten heel…I’m not a high-heel wearer. Once I hit my twenties, I retired those. Way back when 3″ was the norm. ; )
I prefer everything level to the ground, or lifted slightly by a stylish platform or tough lug…but some outfits require that extra, elegant detail. Enter the Kitten.
An aside: It’s taken me years to come over my hatred of wedges, so steadfast was my associating them with the tired 70’s rubber-heeled boots of my childhood. But now I have a liking for them – also in a low profile.
i prefer low to the ground too, or at least a wedge that is all the way on the ground LOL – i’ve never been much of a traditional heel wearer unless they’re high clogs, and those don’t ever feel traditional.
i always feel a little un-sturdy wearing a kitten heel too – but that’s probably just me – i’d love to find an affordable pair to play around with , like the first zara pair i featured.
Several years ago, my husband dragged me in to Nordstom (yes, it happened that way) while he was in search of some ultra-deluxe low boot for himself…and I found myself waiting around the clearance rack – which is a good place for my credit card. I scored a pair of Jessica Simpson kitten heels for a pittance. (I didn’t even know she was in the shoe business. Heh.) And they are lovely little things, but saucy, calling for black lace with a pointed toe. So there they sit, waiting for a non-mama moment.
Nordstrom. Thought I’d fixed that in time…
Those Loeffler Randall are on my wishlist. Love them!!!!
Oh my gosh…You are amazing!!! But then you know that we ALL think that about you, right? Thank you SO much for doing the legwork (footwork??) for me and finding me wearable heels! And the way you describe wearing them is exactly what I have planned: cute Paige boyfriend jeans and my Equipment silk shirts or great t’s. I can’t wait to purchase (I’m gonna’ be up tonight making the plastic sing!). Not to mention that fact that the DVF’s and the Loeffler Randall’s are adorbs. Might have to save for them. Thanks, Grechen, my fashion angel!! <3
I love the color of #4 and the shape of #1 but I have to be sincere, I prefer sky-high heels and I don’t really wear low kitten heels! (I don’t even own one!)
