Hello! I can’t remember the last time I didn’t “work” for a week, can you? I didn’t mean to (take the week off), but it’s happened that way, and I can’t complain too much about it. I hope you haven’t missed me! Anyway, my sister had a couple of medical procedures the last few days so I was able to help out and take her to those, and otherwise, we’ve just spent a lot of time here at home, by the fire, and other heating elements. It’s cold here in the Atlanta area.
I was supposed to fly back Wednesday night, but there have been quite a few “weather events” both here and in Dallas the last few days, and they were expecting a “storm” through here Wednesday, so I took Southwest’s offer to allow me to change my ticket back at no charge and will fly back this afternoon instead.
Anyway while I’m bundled up in wool & cashmere (I’ve gotten A LOT of use out of the few pieces I packed!), I have been pining for warmer weather, and the inevitable spring shopping that comes with it. In my head, all I think I want to wear this spring is a long, light, cardigan, coated leggings, white sneakers, and a slouchy black shopper bag.
In more practical terms, however, I’ve decided to add only a long cardigan to my wardrobe, and nothing else. For now. I’ve become obsessed with white sneakers lately (blame the Adidas Superstar), but I know they won’t suit me as much as someone with thinner legs, and anyway, I get frustrated with laces. I also already have the Converse X Play CdG sneakers in white (I just don’t wear them very often because I don’t like how high they come up on my foot…I think the Superga pair would be better for me, but I’ll wait…).
And the leggings – I’ve been wanting a coated pair of leggings for the longest time, and I’d love a high-waisted pair, but I’m also happy with the two “regular” pairs of leggings I already have. But this pair by David Lerner has been on my list since I saw them.
The bag, well, that’s just a dream right now. I’ve loved that perforated shopper by MM6 for quite some time, and now, I think it would be great to lay out in my carry-on suitcase and use as a bag at my destination. But I’ll wait on that one too, for a code, or for it to go on sale.
Those are the things that just feel “right” for spring – still covered up, because I can’t possibly feel any warmth right now – but breezy, and lighter. What do you want to wear this spring?

What are you dreaming of for spring?
I’m ready for cropped pants and my denim jacket. I’m lusting after a bright pink bag that I saw at a Kate Spade boutique last week, but considering I got a new pink bag last year, it’s going to have to stay on the wish list. I’m also dying to get new basic tops for work so I can get rid of some that I’m sick of and/or are looking worn.
I’m so glad you posted today, because I was about to look like a crazy blog-stalker and post asking where you were. 😉
I love everything about this look, and especially how you are editing it replicate it with most of what you have and the option that you’ll end up wearing the most (i.e. the shoes).
I have coveted those coated leggings for quite some time–but wonder about how comfortable they actually are to wear. Mainly, are they really warm? Which would be great if I lived in Boston right now, but in mild Northern California would mean that I would never end up wearing them.
Glad you are back! Definitely ready for Spring and white sneakers here!
It’s so damned cold here, that I haven’t even thought about Spring clothes! Even I, the “human furnace,” have been cold!
But I have noted that Splendid cardigan a number of times, and I think it’s so cute ( Not to mention, versatile…and STRIPED!!!). Right now, I want to find an oversized, black cotton boxy sweater with a front seam. Very specific, I know, but I saw a woman wearing one and it was cute and super-flattering on her. (She got it at H&M, but they’re sold out of a Large. 🙁 )
Spring still seems far away with the blustery winds and snow we’re having, but I’m definitely dreaming of simple sneakers (my Ash high-tops are due for some outings!), cuffed jeans, and simple long-sleeve shirts that will transition to warmer weather. Oh, and silk scarves in my hair! I fell down the rabbit hole of watching YouTube videos on hair scarf-tying techniques, and now I want to master the many styles :).
Supergas are theeeeeeeee best, you won’t regret them. I have been wearing them for years and years… used to be that you couldn’t get them anywhere, I had a pair of my mum’s from the early 90s that she bought in Italy that I wore to death, I was so happy when they had a resurgence!
thanks amanda, for your input. i’ve long wanted a pair…maybe now’s the time? They look so versatile and comfortable…
after i wrote this post, i had to hibernate for a few days because it was so cold and rainy here. ugh.
but i can’t help it. this time of year, i’m over the dreary weather and ready to move on. i think i’m meant to live in florida or something, without seasons or transitions. but then, i wouldn’t get to wear my layers…
thank you!
ha! and here i took another few days off…i had to take a break again after my “break” …
i thought the same about the leggings, which is why i won’t get them. i’m afraid they’ll be too hot for me to wear most of the time, and i already do have two pairs of thicker leggings for cool weather, so even though they’re different enough, i’m passing.
and the shoes…i don’t know what i’ll do about those. i wore my converse sneakers yesterday and while i love them (for the CdG Play heart only), i don’t like they way they look on my foot AT ALL. and that they come up so high on it; i need more skin showing on my foot to make up for my lack of ankles. so i may try the supergas anyway.
