I have three CP Shades pieces: Two carine shirts and one linen dress, but whenever I wear them, I want more. I could live in linen during the summer months, and CP Shades makes the best linen tunics and dresses, I think. Linen is sort of hard though, it always looks wrinkly, and is pretty sheer, so you do have to wear something underneath, but it’s definitely lighter-weight and easy to wear in the heat. And it feeds into the boho vibe that I’m always wanting for summer….
It’s always been tough to find CP Shades online, but lately I’ve found more and more places for it:
bird (I prefer their styling)
Sundance Catalog
Bliss Boutique
Calypso
worthwhile (I LOVE their selection)
eBay
Rodale’s
Evie Lou
Do you own any CP Shades pieces? Which are your favorites?
I live in linen! I’m also wearing a pair of white CP Shades bloomers today. They are sheer, so I have a longer linen tunic on over them. I own a few other CP pieces and love them. You must be a mind reader, because I’ve been wanting one of their tunics. I’ll have to buy one soon, and I appreciate the links. Thanks, again!
RJS, I think we’re kind of like those couples or dogs that start to look alike after hanging out together for a long time (and don’t even get me started on “cycling” together!).
I’ve been in love with CP Shades for a looong time. I’ve got a lot of pieces (Remember, I haven’t done my closet purge yet, so I don’t have an official count )
It’s all just so comfy and easy to wear, and just perfect for summer. Plus, I love their ethics.
This was a “Dream Post” for me, Grechen!
I’m wearing linen today too! JJill turquoise linen dress, hits just below the knee (because I’m short) I look pregnant (I’m NOT) but I have on seam pockets and it’s so light & cool but not see through. How do CP Shades fit?
Val, you’re right! And we haven’t even met in person yet. Our styles seem very similar. I have an idea. Why wait until next summer to meet? If you’re anywhere near Maine, please let me know. We can have coffee, and maybe hit a few stores. I promise that you can buy the next Goodwill Prada, but I’ll compete over CP Shades;).
Kelly, my experience is that CP Shades runs true to size. But some of their styles are also a little loose. I usually size up with most brands, though, because I hate tight clothes. I’d be interested in hearing what Grechen and Val think, too.
Hey! I remember this brand. Used to have a store in Palo Alto…
i think that’s where they’re headquartered…or somewhere else in CA.
kelly, i think it runs generally true, but the linen dress i have is a small i think, and it’s SO HUGE. but it’s supposed to be…i think it just totally depends on the cut and style. it’s one of those brands i think would best to try on in person, or at least buy from a place you can easily return to if you don’t already have experience with it. in general though, most items are probably cut rather “roomy” since the overall aesthetic is oversized and comfortable…
oh!! maybe you’ll need to purge some of those CP shades pieces our way 😉 or not. you should probably keep those!! they seem perfect for you living near the BEACH and all …
Haha! I have very fond memories of a family vacation spent in my sister-in-law’s 200+ yr.-old cottage in Milbridge, ME, on the tidal river (I can’t recall the name). We spent some time in a Bar Harbour, too, and I told my husband I want to retire there. I recall really great antique shops, food (LOBSTER, LOBSTER, LOBSTER!!!) and seeing puffins in the wild for the first time ever. My gosh, that was over 16-yrs ago! We’re planning on using the cottage sometime soon, but I’m not sure when. Believe me, I’d let you know when/if we finalize plans!
I tell you guys, I’m totally serious about a “Grechen’s Blog Faithful Followers Conference” in Montauk! If we could pull it off, it would be a blast! Heck, even a two or three day gathering, including shopping excursions to Southampton and East Hampton, beach time or bike rentals, restaurants to die for… Lots of fun things to do.
Now, back on-topic…For once, I’m actually glad for my “extra padding” because most of the rich ladies that shop Calypso are skinny, so I get the great sales on CP Shades, Go Silk, etc. I would say my experience with sizing is a bit varied. Most people find that they run large, but I have found that my Regina tunic is a little snug in the shoulders (Then again, I’ve got my dad’s former football player shoulders!). But it IS supposed to be loose and easy. For reference, I’m a size 14-16, and I take a L or XL if I want it looser.
Sorry, Kelly! I posted a reply above.
A blast from the past for me too. I used to go to their New Year’s sale at their Pasadena store (where my in-laws lived). Everything was the price of the year–19.99, 20.01 etc. Then clothing got more fitted and the CPS’s seemed to disappear. Now they are back. Too bad I gave away all the clothing…
I’ll look forward to it! I’ll skip the lobster, since it’s a little too rich for me. Although I can never eat enough fried clams.
oh, how wonderful! that would have been amazing to get pieces for that price. they are quite expensive…
I’d take clams any day. My husband finally broke down and got a clamming license. YUM!
OH.Em.Gee! Those prices are unbelievable, Frugal Scholar!
