Happy Monday!! I know you guys have been waiting for this, and I’ve enjoyed reading all your thoughts on it up until now. But here it is, the final requirement for completing your wardrobe audit, and being entered to win the Everlane foldover clutch. But first, my results:
I have a total of 198 items in my wardrobe, that is counting EVERYTHING except bras, panties, slips, socks and camisoles I wear underneath things. When I made my original count from memory, I counted 174 items, forgetting to count some t-shirts and things that are mostly home/lounge/exercise clothes.
(if you’re REALLY REALLY interested in seeing exactly what is in my wardrobe, I created a google spreadsheet to keep track of everything. It has two tabs, one where I recorded everything from memory – ESTIMATED- and what’s really in my closet – REAL. I’m trying to link everything that’s still available to the exact item, but that’s not finished yet.)
That’s pretty good, in my mind, since it means that I have a relatively accurate idea of what’s in my wardrobe most of the time; I can recall almost all of it from memory – I only underestimated my wardrobe by 12%. I was sure I was going to end up having many more items in my wardrobe than 198 – I’ve overestimated the quantity of items I’ve added over the last year or so, or perhaps underestimated the numbers I’ve sold/given away.
Surprise, surprise, I have mostly James Perse in my wardrobe: 43 items total. Followed by 27 Everlane items, and then 8 Rag & Bone, 8Β Eileen Fisher, 5 Elizabeth Suzann, and so on. And nearly 50% of my wardrobe is black – 93 items specifically. Next, I have 38 grey/charcoal items and then 30 white items (mostly t-shirts LOL).
I wrote about the five questions I asked myself in this post, and won’t repeat them here (read also some of your fellow readers’ answers), but I left out my thoughts on two of them: What I have enough of, and what I think I still need in my wardrobe.
What I have enough of – T-SHIRTS. Good grief. I don’t know what it is about t-shirts, I love them, and think I need more than I do. At this point, I have all the ones I love the most, and that fit me well. Done.
What I think I still need – blouses, shirts that aren’t t-shirts. I THINK I need more of these, but in reality, I’m sure I’m okay with what I have. I’ve tried silk blouses, etc., and I never wear them; they’re the sort of thing I like in theory and not in practice. But if I come across an interesting shirt/blouse that I can wear with jeans or black pants, then I might choose to add it.
So, enough about me. If you completed your wardrobe audit and want to enter to win the Everlane clutch, you MUST fill out the form below. The only fields that are required are your email address, your estimate/real item counts, and the color and brand most represented in your wardrobe, all the other fields are optional. Based on your answers I’m going to create a graph or graphs (or something) with the results to see how we all did, and I can’t wait to see how many of you guys have majority black wardrobes too π
You have all week to fill out the form (I will close the form on Friday), and I’ll post results and choose the winner next Monday, December 5.
If you’re not interested in winning the Everlane clutch, you can share your thoughts/results in a comment here – which you can do also, even if you’re filling out the form below, so we can see and comment on everyone’s thoughts.
Good luck !! (here is a direct link to the form if you have any problems seeing it below)
Oops filled out the form in the boxes and promptly lost them when I tried to submit as a comment. Am I not seeing a submit button for the form?
i checked on multiple browsers, etc. and i see it- it’s very small underneath the last question on the left side.
please try again, and if you are still not seeing it, please let me know what browser and operating system you’re on and i’ll see if i can figure out the problem. thank you π
I’m on a chrome book. tried changing text sizes but still don’t see it π
here’s a link to the form: https://grechenreiter.wufoo.com/forms/suoac3e0p4p0qb/ – let me know if you have any problems with that!
Thank you! Interestingly there are two additional questions on my Iphone version. The chrome book ends with the why did you do the audit question.
Oh wow! Thanks for extending the deadline. I thought I had to have it done by today. It was a crazy busy weekend, so that didn’t happen. Now I’m excited again!
I’m so swamped at work right now that I don’t have time for the audit but I’m looking forward to reading about others’ experiences. Have fun everyone! And I’ll try to get around to doing mine eventually – not for the drawing but just for character-building purposes π
oh yes! i am loving reading all the responses. everyone is being VERY thorough π hopefully i’ll be able to put it all together and really examine some of the thoughts/ issues in some posts.
I decided to do the audit after looking at your spreadsheet! I can’t resist a good spreadsheet. π I am at work and so started from memory. Going to see what I forgot when I get home tomorrow.
