I’m not going to lie, I live in my UGG boots as soon as the temperature drops – I could NOT live without them. I say this, although I usually don’t wear my UGGs out of the house (except to walk the dog) and if I do, I always wear them under my jeans, so they basically look like just a shoe. I do think the tall boots have the potential to look cute with leggings or skinny jeans, but please, please, please, please, don’t show me another picture of a ridiculous Hollywood whoever wearing denim cut-off shorts and UGG boots. Gag me with a spoon.
You can’t beat UGGs for warmth and comfort in the Winter, but a fashion statement, they are not. Yeah, UGG did come out with some semi-attractive Summer shoes a year or so ago, and a pair of cute ballet flats – I don’t know about you, but I don’t want my sandals to be sheepskin-lined. I’ll stick to the UGG boots, thank you.
And speaking of UGG boots, Nordstrom has some great new styles on pre-sale right now, and I’m falling hard for these wedge boots:
They actually look like they might be able to fit my LARGE calves, and I always love a good wedge…
The Kensington boot is also nice – it could be cute with tights and a denim skirt:
They’re really expensive – UGGs always are – but if I had to, I would spend twice as much on my basic UGG boots; they’re worth it. I’m not going to pre-sale either of these styles; I’m really not worried about them selling out or not being available this Winter. But I do look forward to being able to try the Corinth boots – I’d love to have a great pair of boots I could actually wear out in public LOL!
Do you UGG? Or would you not be caught dead in a pair??

Agree with the warmth of the UGG, I wear their clogs every winter as room slipper, and every year I replace the sheepskin sole for $12 by buying the replacement from Zappos (free shipping), good as new. For the look of the boots . . . it is questionable. I read some reviews on Zappos about their more fashionable line, but some review said the sheepskin sole is not there for the better looking ones (one reviewer returned it for that reason). Can’t really compromise on the sheepskin part, so I’d check before buying those, maybe they added back the sheepskin sole, maybe not.
yeah, UGGs without sheepskin doesn’t make sense! i bought a couple of years ago the knit – i guess they’re called the cardi style? – boots for something different and really never wore them. they were warm, but not lined all the way. i really don’t like the look of UGGs, but can’t imagine how i got along before having them – especially for early morning take-the-dog-out trips in below freezing weather…i do like the new wedge boots, but unless they end up 30% off, i can’t get them.
yeah, life before ugg is hard to imagine. nothing else makes me happier than that in freezing winter. I want to challenge Loeffler Randall to do UGG make over or something in that line.
LOL, that would be very cool – loeffler randall for UGG…
I just do NOT get all the Ugg hate.. I don’t know what I did without them all these years, and I will never be without my black mini ugg boots again. I wear them with my regular boot cut jeans(as a normal shoe),and I have *never* tucked my jeans in them, worn them with shorts or a skirt. Therefore, when I see all the Ugg hate,it makes me a little upset..They can be worn completely as a normal shoe and noone ever notices. I wear them strictly for the comfort, and I am on my 2nd pair of ugg black mini’s..I need a new pair now too because as they are start to wear out,I retire them. I do not let them look gross and still wear them.
Ps Grechen I love your blog and love to see you post on makeupalley. You are SO pretty, kind and inspirational! God bless!
i’m with you amanda!! UGGs can look like “normal” shoes when worn with jeans – UNtucked – and i don’t get all the hate either. aren’t there other things in life to worry about?
and thanks for the kind words! i really miss makeupalley, i haven’t been over there in forever
I totally agree! i just wrote about basically the same thing ,i am loving the Cornith but would not be caught running around in the sheepskin ones in public although I readily admit I have had the same pair with a hole in the toe that I wear everyday in the winter around my house, love them and your site!
valerie´s last blog ..YES! I am MAD for PLAID

Asking for advice
I’m looking to get a casual pair of UGGs for my better half for Christmas.
So far I’ve narrowed it to Kensington and Stormburst. But still go back and forth deciding which one to get.
Criteria:
Warm (sheepskin lined all the way, especially insoles)
Comfy
Casual
Possibly late fall, winter, early spring wear?
Did I say warm?
Stormburst looks comfy, light, warm and the outsole looks like it would have a good grip on ice.
But,
Kensington, looks sturdy, and very warm, the shaft appears to be taller, hence would protect legs a bit more. Since it’s leather all the way, less chance of getting feet wet.
Any thoughts? advice? am I missing anything?
hands down, go with the kensington. if she’s interested in style/fashion at all, she’ll appreciate those better than the stormburst
That was the missing piece that I completely failed to consider. You are completely right though!
Thank you for your help.
