Favorite: Oak NYC skirt

Is the asymmetrical hem kind of a throw-back to the 80′s? Seems to me that it might be (or is that the handkerchief hem, which was – and still is – TERRIBLE?). Anyway, the asymmetrical hem is having a moment right now, which is ok with me; it adds so much interest to an outfit, and can be very flattering. This silk asymmetrical hem skirt by Oak is so perfect because it’s not too short, or too long…

I’ve long been a fan of Shopbop’s Bop Basics line for affordable, really great tees, leggings and other fabulous stuff, and I was really pleased to learn today that Creatures of Comfort has launched their own “basics” line as well (via Nanashi at if-i-owned-a-boutique). CoC’s line is great, and definitely in keeping with their aesthetic, but it’s not as affordable as I would have liked.

This asymmetric dress is my favorite piece; it’s $195:

But the line I’m really loving most of all right now, is Oak’s private label collection. The price point is perfect, everything has an expected edge to it, and each piece looks like it could become your new favorite. I would gladly work any of these into my closet ;)

It is taking EVERY OUNCE of my power to resist ordering this necklace RIGHT now. It’s just the thing I need to brighten up t-shirts and neutrals…and it’s only $38. Really.

**please check this post for updated information on where to buy the Coco Duffel**

So, the infamous Coco Duffel has sold out at Oak already, and I’m guessing it will be nearly impossible to find unless you pre-ordered it the second you saw MKO carrying it….

Coco Duffel: $850

Coco Duffel: $850

But you can still get your hands on one or two of the other Fall ’09 styles online…

Alexander Wang At Oak NYC:

Donna Hobo in Black Denim Leather: $820

Donna Hobo in Black Denim Leather @ Oak: $820

Alexander Wang handbags at Shopbop:

Alexander Wang Eniko: $620

Alexander Wang Eniko @ Shopbop: $620

Alexander Wang Hilary: $890

Alexander Wang Hilary @ Shopbop: $890

Tina Clutch Bag: $590

Tina Clutch Bag @ Shopbop: $590

Alexander Wang handbags at Mick Margo:

Betty Flap Back: $690 at Mick Margo

Betty Flap Back: $690 at Mick Margo

Daphne Duffel: $890 at Mick Margo

Daphne Duffel: $890 at Mick Margo

You can pre-order the Coco Duffel for August/September delivery from Satine through this link (maybe try to use the “grechens15″ code for 15% off – it’s worth a try, I know that Mick Margo was accepting the GRECHENS10 code for 10% off pre-orders of the Coco Duffel earlier in the Summer)

Also check Opening Ceremony for some of the Fall 09 Alexander Wang bags (tho, not the Coco…)

And jake has pre-sold it in the past, and there’s information floating around that Net-a-Porter will have it as well. Diavolina got an order in, don’t know if it’s going up online, or if you’ll have to call the store to get it.

I love everything Alexander Wang does lately, my favorite bag is of course, the Donna hobo, and there will be a nice pale pink color available for Fall, but I am intrigued by the Hilary studded shopper and the Betty Flap bag (love the details on the shoulder straps, and the hardy leather).

Which one’s your favorite? Did you pre-order the Coco duffel? (I wish I had…)

The Biggie, the Better?

March 16, 2009

The recent movement in fashion & style towards slouchy tops and baggy jeans reminds me a little of the unfortunate fashion period that was the early 1990′s that I muddled through while away at college. I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that I’m old enough to be experiencing “trends” the second time around, [...]

Eco-Chic: Eairth at Oak

July 15, 2008

I love tube dresses; I do not wear them alone (I really dislike my upper arm area), but I love the straight & low neckline under a cardigan. Or even layered underneath a deep V-neck tee… This is a really interesting tube dress, by Eairth, a new Eco-Friendly brand available at Oak NYC that uses [...]
