Net-a-Porter

Yes, I know I have everything I need, and I probably have way too many long skirts, but I’m thinking this navy patterned maxi skirt by MICHAEL Michael Kors would look SO GOOD with my new yellow Balenciaga bag…

I know..I’ve been talking about how much I’d love a button-front denim skirt forever, and I keep finding the “ultimate” version ;) Behold:

This one by MiH Jeans exclusive to Net-a-Porter is my new favorite; I love the lighter wash and worn-in look. But I also know that I need a little more of an a-line shape for this style to be flattering on me. Straight or slightly tapered in pencil skirts are NOT good for my larger bottom-half. I love it anyway, and will continue to be on the search for one that will work well for me. I an absolutely IN LOVE with the retro look/feel of button-front skirts…

If I were a different person…

(And by “different person” I mean tall & skinny) I’d wear these Vanessa Bruno shorts:

I’m generally not a fan of shorts though. Not only just on me because of my large(r) legs, but on a lot of other people too. I feel like a knee-length skirt is just as “cool” in the Summer (or even more so) and a little more modest. Not that I’m a prude, but really, aren’t there some people you DON’T want to see in shorts???

But I’d totally wear these shorts if I had nice legs; with a white tee and nude wedges. Talk about head-turning!

(I was inspired to post this based on Dramatis Personae’s “If I were another girl” series…)

This is me not shopping

by grechen on January 6, 2011 | SUBSCRIBE | TWITTER | FACEBOOK |

Perhaps all the trouble with my James Perse order is the universe’s way of telling me that I should stick to my resolution #4 NOT TO BUY MORE STUFF. It’s not working. (it doesn’t seem to be working for Tina either. sorry) Maybe my resolution should be to simply embrace my need to shop and use it for good…oh, wait…

While I was browsing the sale section at Net-a-porter the other day, I sneaked a peek at some of the new arrivals and am now OBSESSED with this Juicy Couture dress – among other things:

Vanessa Bruno bag: $840. Totally out of range, but I did mention that I wanted a camel-colored bag, right? Although I think I said suede…

Juicy Couture maxi dress: $380. *sigh* oh how I love this dress!! And I don’t normally like off the shoulder dresses or the like, but this one is PERFECTION. Waiting for it to show up on Shopbop and for them to have a code ;)

DKNY sandals: these are $130 (good price, no?) and look to be pretty versatile, although I wish they were nude.

MMM rings: $370. this is a set of four rings – BRILLIANT – because you can wear them like a four-finger ring, but have the movement required to actually do stuff with your fingers…

And thanks to Nanashi, I’ve been debating getting one of these Jerome Dreyfuss bags from Heist (the last time I wrote about the Billy bag, I said I should just save up for one..)

Larry by Jerome Dreyfuss: $525

Billy by Jerome Dreyfuss: $480

(if these videos don’t make you want to buy one of Jerome’s bags I don’t know what will. SO CUTE. Isabel is one lucky lady!)

AND…thanks to my lovely SA at Barney’s Co-Op, I’m completely obsessed with this Sissi Rossi bag – it is the perfect black hobo bag. And until she tried it on for me, I didn’t even know I needed the perfect black hobo bag…

I DID sell my Alexander Wang Rocco duffel…so technically, I need a bag to replace it, no??
Question is, which one??
:)

Outfit: Copycat

February 15, 2010

I saw this picture while browsing Net-a-Porter the other day, and just for kicks, thought I’d try to copy it – I actually own tht T by Alexander Wang shirt and the James Perse sweater, and similar shoes, bags & pants, so it wouldn’t be that difficult. I’m also wearing Hudson pants, Alexander Wang Diego [...]

How to do Harem Pants

June 4, 2009

Yeah, I can’t believe I’m writing this either, but honestly, I think harem pants are getting a bad rap. They don’t suit everyone; they’re a trend that only the very bold can pull off. Which is why I think many just dismiss them outright – because personally, they can’t wear them. No, not everyone is [...]

Net-a-Porter Outnet Launches!

April 16, 2009

We’ve been hearing about the new “outlet” version of Net-a-Porter, Outnet for months, and now it’s finally here. Outnet is where Net-a-Porter’s out-of-season/last year’s designs go to get marked down, at least 30-80%. They’re also, as they say, going to “keep things interesting” by offering pop-up sales and limited time offers similar to sample sale [...]

The New Mini Messenger.

March 25, 2009

I will always be a big-bag girl – I love the way bigger bags look on most women, but they’re also much more practical for daily use. I personally carry mostly BIG bags, but I do have one smaller bag (a Chloe Paddington camera messenger bag) that I use when I need a small bag [...]

Hot Pink Excess…

March 23, 2009

I’m a sucker for pink, nearly any shade of pink works for me (not necessarily ON me – ballet pink makes me look washed out) but I have a special love for hot pink (can you tell???), antique rose and ballet pink. Since neon accessories are all the rage now, I’m checking out the various [...]

Jump(suits) for Joy

March 18, 2009

Ah, the jumpsuit (romper, jumper, onesie, or whatever you want to call it) – there are always a few here and there for Spring, but this year, they’re everywhere. Ranging from the impractical and strange drop-crotch jumpers by Rick Owens (see below), Henrik Vibskov and Mary Meyer, to practical, cute rompers by Mociun, Eryn Brinie, [...]

Fall A.P.C. at Net-a-Porter

July 29, 2008

I’m a huge fan of French label A.P.C. although I’ve only admired from afar. I love how “easy” and urban-chic all the designs are; the Fall 2009 line especially. You can buy online at A.P.C.’s website, and a few other places (Totokaelo has a FABULOUS selection), but soon, you’ll also be able to purchase A.P.C. [...]

By Malene Birger Shawl Sweater

November 28, 2007

Edited: since I posted yesterday, this has gone on sale for 40% off!!! I think By Malene Birger is my new favorite designer…the line was first carried at overseas-based boutiques Net-a-Porter and My Wardrobe, now it has branched out to others like Revolve Clothing, Kate boutique, and more. The aesthetic is very feminine, without being [...]
