The lovely Miss Sophie at les anti-modernes tagged me today to come up with my “time warp” wishlist of things I wish I’d bought when they were on sale, or at full-price in season. She says:
every season there are a few things that i really wish i had bought when i had the chance – when it went on 50% off sale at Bird, or, occasionally, at retail (!). you know what i mean? and then there are just some things that i managed to skip over entirely. it’s fun to look backwards, as many of these are now ‘new vintage’!
She and I share one item on our wishlist, the camel print Virginia Johnson shawl:
This was the VJ shawl I originally fell in love with a few years ago, but waited too long to purchase…it seems to come back every season, but since I went ahead and got a VJ shawl in a different pattern, I’ve been hesitant to splurge on the camel print. Even though I love it to death.
I’ve also been chasing a Dunlin bag FOREVER. I hesitated on buying a white one for less than $200 when Language went out of business and have been kicking myself ever since. I’d love to have this bag in a rich brown color, or even gray…I think I will have to create a “Dunlin” savings account to have $$ on hand when I find it again on sale! Congrats to Miss Sophie for her new Dunlin bag. I’m so jealous 
Every season, I want at least one Play by Commes des Garcons cardigan. I couldn’t quite do it last year when they were on sale at Satine and Totokaelo at the end of the season…that won’t happen again!!!
And last, but absolutely not least, I’ve been coveting a pair of Rachel Comey shoes for years, going back to a pair of sandals featured in Lucky I stalked until they showed up at Anthropologie and was disappointed in. Nevermind, I can’t believe I waited until my size was sold out in these Dekalb clogs:
