After I posted about the Anthropologie “explorations” skirt being on sale for $49 last week, my husband offered to buy it for me. Imagine my surprise
and delight! So, the thank you is for him.
I knew I would love this skirt – it drapes beautifully, and I love the pattern/color; it ends up looking more gray, but with texture. I ended up with a size small, mostly because my store just had a small and a large, and the large was way too big. The small fits fine – I think. I do like the skirt more with a nicer blouse, like my Equipment silk blouse, but it’s going to be in the triple digits again today, and I just can’t do it. It also looks great with my cropped red blazer and a white tank top; I think this will be an extremely versatile skirt for me.
And as if we didn’t already have to worry about matching, Sharon and I will have to start co-ordinating outfits so we’re not wearing the exact same piece
I’ve had this skirt for a week or so, but I’ve been dreaming about adding it to my closet for a month or more, and I felt bad posting it until it was available online
So, it finally showed up at Anthropologie.com and here it is:

wearing: Anthropologie skirt | Joie linen tee (last year) | Steve Madden sandals | TIKKR watch (gifted) | Oliver Peoples sunglasses (old)
A note on the Anthropologie skirt: I sized down to a medium, and I still feel like the waist is too big. I wrap the waist-tie around twice and then tie it in a small knot in the front, then tuck the ends in so it’s not noticeable. I’ve thought about cutting the self-tie off completely and just wearing a belt…definitely the skirt runs big. It’s insanely comfortable though. If you’re not afraid of a full skirt, go for it
And the shoes – I swore off Steve Madden shoes years ago but I was recently looking for an inexpensive ($49) pair of flat sandals and these fit the bill perfectly. I love the nude patent, and honestly, they’re not uncomfortable. They’re FLAT, so there’s no support, but I’ve worn them for hours of walking and working and didn’t get blisters or sore feet. Through today, use code MARFFEVT for 25% off your order of $100 or more at Endless (you could get these in multiple colors!! in fact, I might get another color…)
I’ve tried this skirt on twice now, and was almost ready to buy it yesterday, but chose the Madewell dress & paying my AT&T bill instead

It’s SO CUTE on, and I love the contrast waistband. Can’t WAIT until it goes on sale…
So, I had pretty much decided to get rid of this skirt, but my friend Sydney has convinced me not to:

She came over yesterday to do some wardrobe consulting and planned my outfit today
As I mentioned before, this skirt does NOT “fit” into my wardrobe, but I like it, so I bought it anyway. I’ve worn it a couple of times, but I never reach for it when I’m getting dressed, I have to really challenge myself to create an outfit around it. Sydney really helped me to realize that I should have a couple of things in my closet that are a little outside of my comfort zone to mix things up a bit. And I’m beginning to see her wisdom

so…you’ll never guess what happened…I took the skirt off after I got home from lunch and went to zip it back up and put it away and the ZIPPER IS BROKEN. Totally broken, beyond repair broken. It’s not like I had a hard time zipping it up OR down today, not at all. I can’t even imagine how it could have happened…although I had a feeling the zipper would be a problem when I bought it because it would get stuck on the fabric, and I think I remember reading some comments on the Anthropologie site to the same effect. I’m disappointed
But I’m taking it back to Anthropologie – I hope they’ll give me at least store credit for it.
She also styled my outfit for a fashion show we’re attending tomorrow night for Tribeza Style Week…you WILL NOT BELIEVE IT. Well, you might, but the shoes will blow your mind. hint: they are NOT clogs. Stay tuned…
