The Biggie, the Better?

The recent movement in fashion & style towards slouchy tops and baggy jeans reminds me a little of the unfortunate fashion period that was the early 1990′s that I muddled through while away at college. I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that I’m old enough to be experiencing “trends” the second time around, and am learning to try and embrace them. And even try them out. (*gasp*)

These “Biggies” by Mary Meyer have been popping up at all my favorite boutiques lately, and I’m intrigued. I’ve actually been obsessing over this one, the Sun Ray print, at Oak for a week or so:

**Mary Meyer’s site has most of these prints in different colors, including a lovely cobalt blue. She also shows them styled with belts over leggings. very cute!

I can’t really identify what it is that I love so much about these. Maybe it’s the desire to just sometimes wear something NOT body-hugging, that’s also comfortable & cute. But as in the early 90′s, I know better than to think this style would be flattering on me in the least; I have a pear-shaped body and look much better when I call attention to my small waist. If I had skinny legs and could wear leggings, I’d jump at one of these to wear belted with leggings & flats, but I’m not quite there yet. Maybe with a pair of flare leg jeans and platform sandals?

What do you think? How would you wear a Biggie? or would you wear one at all?

RN Convertible Silk Hoodie

I will admit, I love hoodies; I am irrationally drawn to them, I can’t stop buying them. There’s just something so comfortable and easy about a hoodie, and I guess it might have all started with Juicy actually providing a fitted, flattering fit. Now that we’ve moved beyond Juicy (hopefully), there are tons of other options, but this one by RN Convertible at Anica Boutique is my new favorite!
