I will admit when I first saw the sweatshirt skirt with waist tie by 3.1 Philip Lim, I was horrified. I mean, of course I used to tie my hoodies or sweatshirts around my waist, but that was mostly out of necessity, not to achieve a certain “look.” Now, while I’m not completely sold on the look, I think it’s sort of whimsical & interesting, but still completely unflattering on most women.
3.1 Philip Lim Tie waist Sweatshirt Skirt – $325
The question is, if you love the look, do you splurge and buy the 3.1 Philip Lim version with everything already “built in”? Or do you do it yourself? The problem with doing it yourself is that you add lots of extra bulk, the sweatshirt sometimes ends up being too long, and of course, it will come untied. But it is cheaper, and easier to mix & match colors. 😉
So, which one? This or that?
* my husband has suggested that I add a “neither” option to my This or That? posts, and today I think it’s appropriate. I wouldn’t really advocate either of these options. But I do commend Philip Lim for trying to bring back the hoodie-tied-around-the-waist look, although I hope it doesn’t catch on…
