Just some things that have caught my eye recently…not that I want to buy any of them at the moment, just that I’m enjoying looking at them ๐
Bao Bao by Issey Miyake bag – I would never be able to carry this, but I think it’s beautiful. I love the unique blue, and that it’s a matte finish. Someday, I will buy a bao bao bag in a more neutral color, but not for quite a while! I’ve wanted one forever.
Reinhard Plank paper hatย –ย ugh hats.ย I always want a “nice” one for summer (I have one from Costco I wear at the beach/pool/outside), but I just cannot wear one in public just for the heck of it.ย I mean, I’d wear one to keep the sun off my face, but not to go shopping, or traveling, or whatever, like all the cool kids do.ย In my dreams I would…but in reality, I feel weird.
Muun George Straw bag at La Garconne.ย I love to seek out things that are NOT made with leather, and for summer, I always appreciate a canvas or straw bag.ย I love that this one has longer shoulder straps, something you don’t see often with straw totes.
Caran d’Ache ballpoint pen (it’s cheaper on Amazon, but merchandised better at Need Supply ๐ ) I love the idea of having “nice” aesthetically pleasing pens, but in reality, I love my pilot ballpoint pens from Target…
Cuyana french terry dressย – I REALLY like the fit of this, and I can imagine it’s very soft and drapes nicely, but I’m over modal, viscose, rayon, etc. for clothes, and I just know this will become a pilly mess (something I don’t like with synthetics, but don’t mind so much with natural wools).
Team La Garconne tee. I was sort of embarrassed to admit that I wanted one of these, but if Navaz does also, then I can’t be in such bad company? ๐
Zero Waste pillow by Miranda Bennett* – I need another pillow like I need a you-know-what, but I love this indigo, and that they appear to be made from fabric remnants from her clothing line.
Rachel Craven Textiles Kurta dress* – in love with the color, and the style; it’s wearable as a dress or a tunic.ย Also, by Rachel Craven, this kimono jacket…swoon….

What are you finding appealing lately?
That is a nice looking pen. I’m very particular about my pens and I have a roll-out pen case to hold several (pens, highlighters, etc…) that I take with me to work. No one else likes my pen because it’s very small and .3 tip, which is teeny tiny, but I love it.
That Rachel Craven dress = Love.
As soon as I saw the Cuyana sweatshirt I wanted it. I think it would be perfect for a red-eye flight or pajamas when traveling (I have terrible luck at hotels – on multiple occasions people have decided it’s a fun idea to pull the fire alarm at 3 a.m. At *nice* hotels – and I have to exit my room in my pajamas in case it’s a real fire). Like you, I’m suspect of the pilling, but may give it a shot any way. It’ll have to wait until next month, though, I’ve already bought my “item” for my end-of-January paycheck!
I love that hat! But can you wear a paper hat to the beach or pool? (Honestly, I want to know)
Love both of the bags and zero waste pillow too. But I’m trying not to be tempted!
haha. i don’t know? maybe not a great idea…i think it’s more of a “fashion” hat than a practical one ๐
I’m with you with hats. I bought myself a Brookes Boswell hat at the West Coast Craft Fair in December as an early birthday gift to myself and I LOVE it but whenever I wear it I feel unapproachable to others in public for some reason — like I’m being “uppity” just by wearing it. I do wear it if it’s raining which is practically “never” in CA or if I’m traveling, but I have a hard time wearing it “just because”.
oh, love the brookes boswell hats too! but i totally get what you mean…
when i did have a hat (janessa leone) I wore it sometimes before i washed my hair, to hide my hair, but since we have to drive everywhere in texas, it’s just not practical – i never got the hang of driving with a big hat on LOL. and since it was wool, it was SO HOT most of the time.
i have a friend who wears hats a lot, winter, summer, whatever, and she looks great, but i’m finally facing the fact that i’m just not her haha…
I have a paper hat that is now 3 years old. I’ve worn it in the rain and with wet hair and while it looks “worn” now, it still does its job
Good to know. Thanks!
I wish hats were more of a thing too! If you wear one you get so much (unwanted) attention. I work with a woman who absolutely rocks hats though and it’s inspiring. Maybe that should be a goal, rock a hat with confidence.
I love love love hats and wear them all the time, in fact I think I look weird without them on! Other people must too, because when we go out and I’m not wearing one someone always comments “where’s your hat?”.
And it’s random people too, like the bigger at the grocery store ๐
My husband has collected pens for years and there is something so wonderful about writing with a really nice pen. I have a few Mont Blancs and they are the only pens I use. One is over 20 years old and still used daily, we buy refills once a year and occasionally have had to have one serviced, but Mont Blanc does that gladly and for free.
Great minds think alike Grechen! I am planning on getting the same Muun bag, except in mini, almost bought it this week. I have a square shaped one with short handles from a local boutique here who carries the loveliest unique items including finds like this from France (she also has many great items from Denmark).
And you know how I feel about the Bao Bao :-). I intentionally chose a bright color as it was on sale and a nice pop of color as my clothing is all neutral. I have an orangy red poppy colored. I found mine during the holiday sales (from Bloomie’s).
Oh one more thing! I have two Rachel Craven pieces and love both – the cocoon dress in red and the short caftan in black (a knee length dress on me). I always get compliments on the cocoon. I bought mine from Sunchild (Houston) when they have coupon codes.
