I promised I would share the results of my first Net-a-Porter purchase, so here goes: I think I could get used to this. I ordered two sale items (a Juicy hoodie and Paul & Joe Sister sweater) last Wednesday and received my order Thursday. THE NEXT DAY. Shipping is free until December 11 with code ‘HOLIDAYS’ which saves $25, but I think their standard shipping is 24-48 hours (Natalie Manhasset knows something about instant gratification…). And, if you live in Manhattan, you get same day service. Very cool.
So, first, I was incredibly impressed by the shipping speed. Next, I opened my ugly cardboard box to find an elegant package inside. Now, Net-a-Porter sells many items that fetch upwards of $2,000 but they took the time and effort to package my $130 sale package just as meticulously as they would package the more expensive items. That, in my opinion, is one of the most important customer service decisions the company has made – and it will earn them customers for life.
Inside the matte black box was a dustbag, with my two items inside, wrapped in tissue paper. A dustbag. How did they know I needed another dustbag?
So, getting to the clothes. I KNOW Juicy is “out,” especially the tracksuits, but I wanted a simple, fitted hoodie I could wear with my long black and denim skirts. I have one that is a gorgeous dark brown, and didn’t want to wear it with black (although I am NOT afraid of wearing black and brown together), so I took advantage of the great price ($50) to get another one in a gorgeous teal color. It fits great, is flattering on me, and comfortable; that is what matters when it comes to personal style.
I also got a striped Paul & Joe Sister Sweater.
I couldn’t resist the price, and I just love the stripes and little pockets on the front. It’s a little scratchy, so I have to wear it with a t-shirt under, but overall, I think it’s flattering, and the perfect sweater to just throw on and run.
Overall, I’m incredibly impressed (and I know many other women who are also) with Net-a-Porter’s customer service and shopping experience. Don’t be afraid of the high prices, wait for a sale and you’re likely to find great deals.
