I’m always happy to add another bag to my collection, especially from small, independent designers. So, imagine my excitement when I received this gorgeous leather bag from Helena de Natalio, available exclusivly at Style Scene.
Mine is the Atada style in dark brown (but it’s available in several very versatile colors), and it is made from lovely, sturdy & smooth leather designed by Helen Hoppock and handcrafted in Argentina by local artisans.
From Helen herself:
“Helena de Natalio was founded to create high-quality goods, but on the principle that a high-end accessory line can benefit the local artisans who are involved in production. As all of our production takes place in Argentina, we feel it is our duty to provide fair wages, help local artisans start their own businesses, and promote international business. Be proud as you wear your new Helena de Natalio product knowing that it was made by people who share a common commitment.”
I love this philosophy and even more, I love to support fellow (female) entrepreneurs who recognize the importance of not only creating wealth for themselves, but helping others create wealth for themselves and their communities.
Of course, I also love to support great designers and beautiful products. This bag is lovely, particularly the braided handle and tie around the bag (details are so important). And, although it doesn’t look it, it can hold everything you need, and then some, while still being very easy to carry because of the single shoulder strap and close-ness to the body. The inside is nicely lined and features a zippered pocket, a phone pouch, and a chain for keys.
It’s definitely love – this is a very easy bag to carry, and one that I’m sure I’ll be reaching for regularly 🙂
