Outift: Loafers

wearing: James Jeans | Vkoo Cotton tunic (gift) | Dieppa Restrepo loafers | Jas M.B. bag

Remember when I talked about denim last week and said that my older pairs feel pretty dated? Well, this pair of James Jeans are at least 6 years old, do they look it? You know how you can tell how old they are? The low rise. They are SO LOW!!! I’m glad they’re not making really low-rise denim anymore, it’s hard to wear! But I generally like the way these fit, they’re straighter in the leg than other pairs I own and I love the feel of the denim.

And since I’m DYING to wear these Dieppa Restrepo loafers (here’s a similar pair at Azalea – use code GRECHEN10 for 10% off) I got when Jumelle had their Refinery29 Reserve deal a while ago, I rolled the jeans up a bit to see if they’d work with the loafers. Do they? I think my Gap jeans will probably look better than these with the loafers, but I wanted to try. And, I’m going in for a root canal this afternoon (!) so overall I want to be comfortable, and wear real shoes, in case my feet get cold. (and I can use any excuse at all to wear these right now!! in spite of the record high temperatures around here)

Since I haven’t actually worn the loafers out yet, I can’t give a “real” review, but just from wearing around the house (a lot), I love them. They’re quite a bit more substantial than other flats I own (all Repetto bb), which I really like. They’re not easy to style, honestly, and I think they look better on ladies with thinner calves, but I look forward to wearing them with jeans (as long as I show a little ankle, I think they’re more flattering), and maybe a long skirt. Also, I find them to be true to size. I’ll be in NYC the beginning of next month for the IFB conference, and I plan on wearing them A LOT, so I’ll report back afterwards and let you know my final verdict :)

And a note on the tunic – VKOO kindly sent me one to try out after I featured it as a sale pick of the day recently. I’ve worn it a couple times lately, not if I’m going to be outside for any period of time, and love it. It’s super-comfortable (mine is a medium) and very well-made. It’s kind of like your favorite sweatshirt, but not. And cuter.

I love the look. The loafers are cute and I’m definitely considering a purchase of some, probably the ones from Marais USA. I like the jeans with them and wouldn’t have known that they were older. I like the narrowness of the leg with the loafers. And I bought the VKOO top in navy and my hubby LOVES it on me with my white jeans. Thanks for another great tip!!

You could TOTALLY rock white jeans, Grechen! Just do what I did, and go with the cheap ones to try out the look. White jeans never last more than one season anyway, so what do you have to lose?!?

Just think of all of the clearance sales going on right now! (I’m definitely not helping the situation, am I? ;-)
