Alo moto leggings | size medium
In Monday’s post I mentioned that I was going to be spending all week “catching” up on things I neglect (don’t want to deal with) the rest of the year. One of those things was updating this “What I Wear for Pure Barre” post, which is consistently one of the most viewed posts on Grechen’s Closet, and in DIRE need of an update.
I started working on that post yesterday after class (I go to the 9:45 AM class) and the next thing I knew I was still in my Pure Barre clothes at 4:00 in the afternoon, which, although tempting, doesn’t happen very often – I like to get dressed! So, I decided to take advantage of my non-outfit and snapped a quick picture of my new Alo pants and favorite Beyond Yoga cami. (I’m doing the silly tippy toe pose in an effort to recreate something we do at the barre, without the barre, so I’m a little shaky! And not up as high as usual on my tippy toes…and also, when I just stand there flat footed I look/feel strange).
The Alo pants are wonderful, they fit nicely, are pretty compressive (nothing beats Ultracor for compressive though, and they’re made from recycled nylon) and interesting for black pants. Of course they are ridiculously long on me, so for Pure Barre I stretch them over my socks, but otherwise, I just fold the hem under. I got them because I had enough credit in my account at the studio to cover them, but I am absolutely not one to shy away from spending big $$ on workout leggings; they need to last for a long time and hold up to at least 1x a week wear. (I do generally try to get most pieces on sale or with a code though).
Speaking of…there are SO MANY good workout pieces on sale right now, and will be even more after the new year for all the resolution gym-joiners, so I’ll do a post on my favorites soon, with a focus on made in the US and/or sustainable brands. In the mean time, take a look at this post for some ideas.
*I stole the name of this post from a sweatshirt from Barre Socks that I LOVE (the message, not the color!) that says “will plank for pizza” – which is very true some days; I do Pure Barre so I can eat pizza….
Damn! You look great!!! I would love to set the goal for myself that I will get in shape and be exercising regularly and eating in a [mostly] healthy manner by the end of 2016. Reachable, I think. I’m not setting a specific weight goal because I’m not sure what I’ll be able to achieve with health issues, more of a “Fit and Fab” goal!
Happy New Year!!! (Now I won’t worry about you when you take a few days off! 😉 )
Da booty tho……
Looking good!!
wow, you look awesome!! do you have a full review of ultracor somewhere? I’m always on the lookout for new workout bottoms. I have a few outdoor voices that are my most regularly used but they’re not 100%
Oh!! First tell me more about outdoor voices. I’ve been wanting to try the new high waisted leggings…
I don’t have a full review up of the ultracor leggings yet but I can give you the rundown here: I got a size 8 at a boutique in Orlando who had them on sale for $50. Otherwise I wouldn’t even have tried them honestly. They’re snug and compressive and the waistband is a little lower than I generally prefer. So I have a little muffin top going on…
They also have a bikini underwear lining that’s both good and bad. It makes the pants opaque where it counts but I sort of wish I could cut it out. But I have a weird body and do better with high rise thongs.
I love them a lot and would pay about $100 for them. They’re much better than some I have paid more for…
haha. thanks cathy 🙂
what a great goal – and totally reachable, i think, which is most important 🙂
it’s just about making a habit and sticking to it, then everything will fall into place. and even when you slip up, it’s not so hard to get back in. and finding some exercise that you REALLY REALLY love. like i said, i plank for pizza…i can’t eat just anything i want any time, but i can be a little free-er with myself since i do pure barre 5x a week. and man, nowadays, i’m REALLY thankful for that!! LOL
