Vince blair haircalf sneakers | sold out in haircalf, available in suede at Shopbop (size down 1/2 size)
It’s so funny how you get things in your head and then you see them everywhere! Remember when I mentioned last week that I was going to take some of my older, too-big jeans to the tailor? Well, one of them was this pair that I’m wearing, the Goldsign Leia jean. I really never wore these much because even when I got them, they didn’t fit (too small) and didn’t look great on me anyway (probably because they didn’t fit). Now that they’re three sizes too big, they fit 🙂 Although I’m not sure that they won’t be falling down around my knees by the end of the day…
Anyway, I was thinking about how much I really love these jeans, and how I should try and wear them as-is, even with the wide leg, and then today at the Dr’s office I saw a really cute girl wearing a pair of wide-leg jeans (probably Dojos) and converse and thought she looked great. And then while perusing blogs, also at the Dr’s office, I saw That’s Not My Age’s post on wide (white) jeans and knew I needed to try and wear my own wide leg jeans more. I’m not sure why I wouldn’t, because I love them, besides the fact that they do feel rather dated. Maybe I feel like I look “old” in them?
Also, the James Perse sample sale is ending this weekend – did you get everything you wanted? Although the top I’m wearing is a tunic top, I thought I’d show you that you don’t have to wear it long; it’s kind of nice pulled a little bit up on the side, or folded under a little bit sometimes – with these jeans, it’s too big and bulky to wear all the way down. Don’t let these prices pass you by…I know everything is final sale, but apparently James Perse does very well on eBay 😉
Have a great weekend!!! Please enter my Pure Barre giveaway if you have a studio nearby and are interested in trying it.
I think that the outfit is great, and doesn’t make you look “older.” I own that JP tunic top and love it! I have an outright obsession for wide-leg pants, and I own over five pairs. I don’t think that they’re “dated,” because I see them everywhere: online browsing, style blogs, fashion magazines etc.. Although in Maine, most women wear the dreaded mom jeans. Ugh. I’ve even spied a few mullets, which always makes me wanna scream.
You know I tell you the truth, and I think wide legs and flares are making a big comeback this year. (My official fashionista opinion…based on what everyone else is saying ) I love them on you, and think you look great. Maybe if you had the correct size you’d feel good in them. You know, “old jeans”…”old you”? I’d love to see you try some leg-lengthening slight flares and see what they look like. And clogs would work GREAT with them! 😉
Love this post. I have a pair of Dojos that I always LOVED, but I probably haven’t worn them in 2 years. I really need to bust them back out and just accept that even if they’re not “in” or the most flattering pair that I own, it’s okay.
I second the idea of trying more of a slight flare. I’m partial to the Joe’s Jeans Petite Provocateur–it’s a smaller flare, and they’re cut so the bootcut hits at the right spot (I’m 5’4″, but it’s hard to tailor bootcut or flare jeans, since once you remove the length it changes the shape of the flare.)
