Happy Friday!! I hope my style is whispering today, not shouting 😉 I think it is, this outfit is very me – quiet, but full of great “investment” pieces. This sweatshirt by the way, was not a huge investment because I stalked it until it went on sale for a third of the original price (which was crazy), but I obviously thought I would wear it ALL THE TIME, and I haven’t. Perhaps now that I’ve lost weight I’ll wear it more often – it never really fit me very well. I love it so much, but I’m disappointed it’s not a bit more versatile than it is.
What’s an investment piece you stalked and finally purchased thinking you’d wear it a lot and it turns out you don’t?
I LOVE this post!
I bought these boots 3 winters ago. I thought because of the color and quality I would wear them all the time.
But they are bit tall for me…I am only 5’3″ and the leather is so nice I never want to wear them to work.
They’ve become my special occasion boots…

Grechen, I just love your style! It “speaks” to me and you put the best outfits together. I just love this look! Your entire look (hair, makeup, clothes, bag, shoes) looks just fabulous! You are very inspiring! Thank you! Kim
Grechen, great question. Farha, I can relate about the footwear. I’m a huge Frye fan; and I own a lot of their boots – most of which I wear. Once again, last year on eBay, I bought a green pair of engineer boots. I was so excited! Unfortunately, the color turned out to be brighter than I expected, and the style is too clunky. So I bit the eBay bullet, and resold them. At least, I made a profit on them:).
I LOVE this sweatshirt: I HAVE this sweatshirt – and love it so much I’ve even worn it running. I wear it with jeans and non-sneaker shoes too, but have never worn it with that style of shirt – I love this outfit! You look great. I’ve most commonly worn it with grey jeans and either the lower version of the old Rachel Comey tassel wedge slingback in grey or with booties. Your outfit has more polish.
no WAY!!! i didn’t know anyone had this sweatshirt 🙂 i don’t even remember seeing it online, only in the store at barney’s co-op. the first day i saw it i was OBSESSED, but couldn’t afford it so i waited until final markdowns…
i think i might not wear it so much because i think it’s too “special” but if you’ve worn it running, then i can definitely wear it more often!! 😉
thank you kim!!!
i had the actual clogs from that same season by stuart weitzman but didn’t keep them, they were too high for me! but i loved them. love the boots too, they seem like a great every day pair of boots – you should probably wear them more often 😉
thank goodness for ebay…and consignment…
I got it on eBay and was really lucky – no way would I have been able to at full price or anywhere near it. Yeah, I think it holds up well — I’ve worn it really quite often. My arms are long-ish though I’m not that tall, so the sleeves are shorter on me, but the print and cut do make it a special sweatshirt. You should wear it all the time!
When I compare this picture of you with the four below it, I like the other four much better. The shirt hanging out at the bottom takes the eye away from the awesome sweatshirt, and draws the eye to the big white band around your hips. I KNOW that style is meant to convey, “Hey, I’m cool & casual”, but I’ve never liked it. It just says “trying too hard” to me. I await the day when that look becomes passe.
I’m not really a fashion stalker .. but if I find a pair of pants that fit .. I will go out of my way to find a second pair if the store doesn’t have my size. I guess that’s a light form of stalking .. lol.

This outfit is SOOOO cute! I love the way you styled every single piece. And your hair looks great pulled back like that…it shows off that pretty face! What a great “whisper” you make!
thanks val 😉
