All Saints Itat Shrug | size 4
Goldsign Virtual high-rise jeans
Everlane ryan tank
Everlane loafers | gift for review from Everlane
What an interesting week it’s been…birthday, visit from my sister, oh, and then my site was down. That last thing turned out to be good, because it was the push I needed to finally switch hosts. Perhaps you’ve noticed that the site loads MUCH faster now but hopefully nothing else has changed. Well, except from not on there won’t be ANY more downtime. Ever.
Phew. Anyway, sorry for the issues yesterday, and please do let me know if you have any problems with anything here, reading, commenting, or finding things, and I’ll look into it. So far, the migration seems to have gone smoothly.
A note on this sweater : it was also a birthday present from my father (I know…he’s amazing!); there’s an All Saints store in Orlando and we always like to peek in when I’m there to visit. I had been looking to find a replacement for an old Zara cocoon sweater I wanted to give to my sister and found this one at All Saints. It’s even better than the Zara one actually, because I can wear it closed, or open (although I tend to wear it open more often) and it’s more versatile for multi-season use. I love it, although it’s a lot of material on me, even in the small size.
And here’s what’s coming next week: I was surprised yesterday by a nice gift from Everlane of their new chunky wool cardigan since I wrote that I wouldn’t be ordering one based on my experience with last year’s version. The note says that their new wool fabrication doesn’t pill, so we’ll see. The cardigan seems less “heavy” and the wool a little less thick than last year’s, and they sent me a large, so it’s oversized, and nicely draped in the back, but not crazy big, if that makes sense. I like it a lot, and look forward to trying it out, although it’s still WAY too warm for that here!
I also received my cashmere order from Everlane yesterday: the black cardigan and the black cropped sweater (purchased with credits). I am OVER THE MOON about the cropped sweater; it is absolutely the perfect cropped length on me, and fits beautifully in the size small (it fits me basically as it does the model, except maybe without so much room in the arms and at the waist). My only issue is now, that they just yesterday launched a burgundy version!!! And I think I’d rather have that than black….

Now, if it would just get a little cooler here so I can wear them…
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
funny! i just got the cashmere crop in camel yesterday and then saw the bergundy and was so bummed! i ended up exchanging. the camel color isn’t the most flattering on me anyway – it is sort of a gold/brown color. also, i opted to size up to medium. the small fit very nicely, but i think i might like a boxier fit – hope i don’t regret that decision!
i really liked the way the small fit me, if i sized up, it would be too boxy. as it is, it comes JUST to my waist and tapers in nicely. and then the way it falls in the back?? SO GOOD. i’m impressed. i love the camel color in theory, but i think it’s tough to pull off, i hope you’ll love the burgundy!
I’m glad you like the new chunky cardigan! I returned mine (the long version), mostly because I felt frumpy in it – even though I ordered my usual size (medium) and the fit was okay (not too oversized). I really liked the slim sleeves, though.
Now I’m about to order the cropped cashmere crew in burgundy. I wish I could wear camel, but I’m the wrong kind of pale and it usually looks horrible on me. Chest measurements-wise, the crew crop seems to be about the same as the striped sweater, so I’ll go with a medium.
Grechen, very very curious to see the cropped sweater. Eyeing it myself and not sure about the fit. The burgundy one seems to be looser on the model than other colors, they seem to be more fitted.
So, ignore the heat and put on that sweater and take some pics soon 🙂
lol – i will have some on monday, i promise 😉
I have that All Saints shrug in three colors!!! Enjoy it 🙂
Oh and I’d love to see pix of you in the cropped sweater. I ordered one in black, medium, and I’m second-guessing on size as well as whether I need or would even wear it. have a similar one that I don’t love the fit of and the Everlane would replace that.
here’s the thing with the sweater: it’s very specific. definitely not the style of sweater you’d wear with everything. i can really only wear it “comfortably” with a few things – my kit & ace high-rise gray pants, my eileen fisher slouchy pants and my eileen fisher harem pants, oh, and my hope trousers. three of those are black, which makes me want the burgundy instead of black. but MAN i loved the clean-ness and simplicity of black! i just don’t do well wearing ALL black, you know?
no way!! i love it so much, i just wish it looked better on me closed – without so much “extra” fabric! but i love the weight of it. it looks GREAT with my fitted JP dresses 🙂
I think the cropped sweater could look very nice over some of your long fitted dresses, like James Perse ones, not just pants.
yes, i think so too, but that would require spanx. i just can’t do the dresses and show my hips/butt without spanx, so most of the time i layer with longer cardigans over so i don’t HAVE to wear spanx. ugh. of course i don’t HAVE to anyway, i just feel better when i’m more sucked in 😉
i’ll try it out!
Try pulling some of the extra fabric so that it’s behind or more to the side of you, if that makes sense. I think it looks great on you though, I’m both pictures. Maybe you’ll get accustomed to it. I find that they’re very useful and I wear them a lot.
I’d probably wear it with another layer peaking out underneath. I was inspired by a photo in an everlane email of the black cropped sweater, white cotton shirt underneath, with black skinny pants. Very “graphic” looking for lack of a better word.
Stupid typo – should be IN both pictures.
I love the look of the closed sweater! I know how it is when something feels strange on, but the look is very stylish and flattering.
Thanks, now I’m obsessed with that shrug! I think it looks amazing closed on you. I may need it… 😉
PS Does All Saints do sales?
Yes! They have good sales and I’m sure they’ll have a code during Black Friday /cyber Monday on current items. I will keep my eye out for you 😉
That All Saints sweater is fantastic! It looks great, and I love any piece of clothing designed to be worn multiple ways. Regarding the Everlane wool cardigan, I look forward to your assessment of the pilling. I was considering purchasing it until I read everyone’s comments on your post. I’m fine with a sweater pilling if I pay $40 at Zara, because what can I expect? But if I pay $165 I don’t want to have to groom my sweater every time I wear it.
awesome!!
Love the All Saints shrug! Especially open. It’s a great piece. I’ve been interested in a lot of their stuff, but I’d have to go into the city to find a store, plus, their price point is on the high side for me. At least when I could find a similar piece at an independent shop out here. I’m trying to shop local more often.
I can’t wait to see you in the cropped cashmere! Although, burgundy sounds great with your wardrobe…and it’s a color, but a subdued color!
I’d love to see that post sometime…I’ll bet it does look great wrapped over the dress.
Lucky you! What a haul! That All Saints shrug is just perfect! I’m eyeing that cropped cashmere sweater, so I can’t wait to see it on you.
