James Perse Sweatshirt dress | size 2, mine is 100% cotton, some are a blend
Rag & Bone Quinn Sandals | these run true to size
Jerome Dreyfuss Momo bag | gift from Forzieri a couple of years ago
I realized as I was wearing my James Perse sweatshirt dress over the weekend that I’d never done an outfit picture with it, so here it is. I got it in February while I was in Atlanta and needed another layer, and found it at Off Fifth (they still have a couple, but not in “neutral” colors) for about half the normal price.
Truthfully, I’d never really liked this dress on me (I’d tried it before), but I tried it on with leggings and was completely sold. Now, without, I still like it, but it’s short(er) than I generally feel comfortable wearing. Although, I have figured out that the shorter the hemline, the flatter my shoes can be. Yay!! 😉
Also, I think I’ve ALMOST settled on a dress for the wedding this weekend: the Acne Studios dress (or the LnA Asymmetrical hem dress). The Acne dress is the most “beach wedding appropriate” and I do love it…and since I haven’t been able to sell it yet, I might as well enjoy it, right? Another major reason for narrowing it down to those two dresses is that I don’t have to wear control undergarments with either of them. Bonus. If I wear the Acne studios dress though, I cannot take the red Jerome Dreyfuss bag, so I’ll have to take my mini twee, the “nude” one instead. Yeah, I know. #firstworldproblems
oh…and I did get some Kiehl’s samples over the weekend to try and see if I needed to buy them before the F&F code expires TODAY (FAMILY for 20% off). I do like the BB cream, and I think that is really all I need now for a little coverage, and a lot of sunscreen. I also tried the micro-blur skin perfecter and was un-impressed generally. It was a primer, basically, and having to add sunscreen on top sort of seemed to negate the “blurring” affects.
Happy Monday!!
**linked up with Visible Monday over at Not Dead Yet Style. Because I remembered this week. Check out the other ladies’ outfits!!
That dress is cute! Just throw it on and go 🙂

I love this dress!!! It’s one of those basics, “Basic but Better,” because it’s JP, and you can dress it up or down. I love your little JD bag with it, too. I’d love to see the dress withe your LF or Dannijo necklaces for a little drama. (Sorry about all of the initials today. I’m a lazy typist due to another back flare-up and pain meds. ????)
And you prove that flats look just as cute!
Love the sweatshirt dress, it’s so simple and chic. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday!
I think this is a great choice for the wedding, and will be great on a beach. I’m having an odd desire to see you wear it with a slightly more intensely colored bag than “nude.” Like a plum? Or apricot? is that weird?
Also you look great above.
ha! thanks lisa. no, it’s not weird; i would love the royal blue with apricot (for a wedding anyway…), but as you probably know, i do not have ANYTHING remotely apricot-colored! my bag choices are pretty limited, gray, “nude,” or red…
thanks for hosting it patti!
i just can’t do a crossbody bag with any jewelry. or big jewelry anyway…i just find it too fussy. but i did have my dannijo necklace on and took it off 😉 so i had the idea, i just couldn’t implement it!!!
sorry about your back flare-up, and initials are perfectly ok!
Oh wow! I love how this is so understated but so chic. I think the dress is perfect. The red bag really makes the outfit. Does this mean you’re experimenting more with color?
ha! 😉 it may seem like it, but not really…i’m going to tampa on friday then spending the next week in orlando with my dad, so i’m getting out my “travel” purse to get used to! i do like it, but first, for every day, i have a really hard time carrying a bag this small, and second, the red just throws me every time…but i have an aversion to red & black. so there’s that…
Love this look on you! The red bag makes it so chic. Red bags and scarves always seem to elevate a look…sort of Parisian chic.
I think the Acne Studios dress will be lovely for the wedding. I really like the idea of pairing your nude bag with it…I like the bright blue with nude…then again I am also a bit color-phobic!
I just bought this dress to wear to a beach wedding this summer. http://www.revolveclothing.com/feel-the-piece-sophie-wrap-maxi-dress-in-black/dp/FEEL-WD37/ It’s simple but stunning. I think the right long layered necklaces will make it a bit more beachy…I was happy to find a black dress so that I could wear it a lot, dressed up or down. It’s incredibly comfortable, which is a huge bonus. I never really think too hard about what undergarments to wear, but I have to find something seamless on the bottom under this as it’s fitted around the booty. 🙂
love that dress!! perfect for a beach wedding.
regarding undergarments – i obviously think A LOT (too much) about them, given my hip issues. i got this recently by wacoal and really like it. i can’t speak to the anti-cellulite qualities, but it definitely holds everything and is seamless. the only downside to a lot of shapewear is that things can stick to it, and that happens with this one…it’s not a huge problem, but something to be aware of…
Thanks for your thoughts on undergarments! The Wacoal look great, but I wonder if they would make me hot? Wedding is on the east coast 4th of July weekend. I have a feeling it’s going to be HOT. That being said, I’d love something to smooth over my upper thighs…I’m slim, but that is my “problem” area. Lol.
i’ve found that the better they fit, the less hot they are – and these fit very well. a lot of my older spanx/wacoal styles are a little big on me now, and make me very hot. but then again, i don’t really mind that much, or even find it that annoying. i guess i’d prefer not to have to wear them, but i feel better in general if i do. if that makes sense!
I went back and looked at the pic of you in the Acne dress, and that color is GORGEOUS on you. And the style is clearly comfortable but the wedge shape and draping give it an edge. Perfect for the wedding, even if I didn’t vote for it before. 😉
This dress really looks great on you! You should definitely wear this more often.
thank you cheryl!
