wearing; Madewell skirt | Velvet x Calypso t-shirt | Calypso sandals | 3.1 Philip Lim bag | SURevolution necklace
Today is one of those days. I hated everything I put on, I didn’t want to wear anything, and definitely didn’t want to leave the house. But I did – and the only thing I felt good in was my long black skirt, t-shirt & flat sandals. In fact, I think the only thing I love in my closet right now is this Madewell skirt – it’s time that I get the gray one. And then get rid of EVERYTHING ELSE IN MY CLOSET.
Okay. Obviously the PMS has taken over, but I do have too much stuff. I do kind of love having so much, but at the same time, it’s a curse; I don’t even KNOW what I have. I don’t wear the things I do love often enough to even have them. And then because I do have so much, I can’t find what I want and know is there! Ugh. I love choice – I’d rather have a choice than no choice any day, but for me, right now, having TOO MUCH choice in my closet is very, very bad.
So, I’m going to be getting rid of stuff. A lot of stuff. Starting with my Alexander Wang Darcy hobo in luggage (last seen here). I love it, but it’s not “me” anymore. If you want it, contact me and let me know ASAP – I’ll be listing it on ebay in the next couple of days…
Do you ever have days when you feel like you have TOO MUCH stuff? or not the RIGHT stuff?
have you listed your hobo bag? have it on my mind…
I have days where I feel like I have too much stuff… because none of it is the RIGHT stuff or I simply can’t find the RIGHT stuff I know I wore last month but can’t find now. Blegh. It makes me wish for a house fire so I could start anew.

What is your ebay id? I would love to browse through your treasures/”stuff” 🙂
The AW bag is tempting- I’ve been dying for a good deal on a black Darcy… though I would definitely snatch it up in luggage for the right price.
I had trouble finding something to wear too today.

I definitely have the problem of never having the “right” stuff. ALL THE TIME. And I am definitely not lacking in the clothes department, at least in terms of quantity. Sigh…
I feel you. Right now I have many clothes but I would tend to stick to the same pieces over and over. Good thing there’s eBay. 😀

Seems you’ve really struck a chord with us. I know you have with me. I am going through the process of sorting through my clothes right now, and I can say with certainty, there are things I don’t remember buying, or haven’t even cut the tags off of! And yet, like you, I stand at my closet (or over-flowing bins, at this moment!) and complain that I have nothing to wear. I think I feel guilty. Yup. I do.
last night i spent 3 hours in my closet…going through EVERYTHING and sorting stuff into boxes. it’s much more manageable now 🙂
the secret is now, to keep it from getting crazy again!!!
It’s such a huge job that I sometimes just sit and stare at it, and then get up and go get a coffee and start web-surfing again! I just HAVE to do it. I keep telling myself that a lot of it is going to Goodwill, so it’s worth it!!
The feeling of having “too much” was why I decided to so the Great American Apparel Diet, even though I love to have new clothes. My spiritual yogini sister approved of it, saying “in essence, it’s learning how to be happy with what you have.” (My other sister told me she could never never NEVER go on a shopping fast, lol). So on days when I am feeling frustrated and like I have nothing to wear, I think about trying to be happy and content with what I have. Because, honestly, I have a lot. Maybe not as much as you though 😉
I’ve looked in my closet that is filled to the brim and thought that I have a lot of stuff (and the bf would adamantly agree) and I know I do have a lot of clothes, but there are some mornings where I’m trying to come up with an outfit and think, if only I had such-and-such. So, I have a bit of both those issues going on.
I did a small closet purge about a month ago and it’s great to see some of the floor of my closet again. I made a vow not to buy anything unless I love it or is on my shopping wishlist. Although, I doubt I would ever have less clothing than I do now (I just crave options too much), I really want a workable wardrobe with things that I want to wear all the time.

The problem with all of this purging, is that ….let’s just come out and admit it. “My name is Val and I’m a shopaholic.” There. I said it. I could do without food, milk, cookies, wine (maybe), even chocolate if I had to. But the latest season’s new ensembles??? Never!!! I can get rid of all the stuff I want to, but in the end, I’ll just end up replacing it with lots of new stuff!!
