First, NO, I’m not selling my Shaina Mote tie dress (seen on me here), but a reader is. She bought it recently when it was on sale at The Dreslyn for a ridiculously wonderful price, but it doesn’t work on her. Hers is the same size as mine, 4, and she’s just asking for $85 plus $5 shipping. Email (grechen – at – grechenscloset.com) me if you’re interested and I’ll pass on her info! I highly recommend this dress, it requires a slip underneath, or a strapless bra (I wear a tube top) if you don’t mind showing some skin on the sides, but it is wonderfully versatile, and so unique. **the dress has been sold!!!
On to this outfit. I got this tank at Neiman Marcus a couple weeks ago after they sent me a $50 off $100 coupon to use at my local store. I had pretty much decided not to get anything, because I couldn’t find much I wanted, or was close enough to $100 to make the coupon REALLY worth it (wanted to get it as close to 50% off I could!!), but then I tried on this pair of jeans and this top and fell hard for both. The jeans were good, but a lower rise than I like, and while I liked the wine color, can’t imagine myself wanting to wear it for more than a season.
This top though…I’m really into mock neck styles lately (ordered this Everlane sweater this week) and think it works really well in a sleeveless shirt. I had also been searching for more cropped styles I can wear with my “slouchy” pants as I seem to have enough long/oversized tops to wear with slim bottoms but not enough to wear with slouchy. Even with the size small, the armholes are a teeny bit bigger than I’d like, but I think I’ll leave them instead of get them fixed, because I’ll be wearing this most often layered under sweaters or jackets, which makes the armhole size moot.
If you’ve been looking for something similar, I think the Rag & Bone/JEAN top is worth looking at. It’s a nice substantial cotton, with a zip back, and very well made; interesting with a sweater on top, or alone.
Happy Friday!!!! Any plans for the weekend? Is it cooling off at all where you are? here it’s still in the low 90’s. Ugh.
