If you follow me on Instagram, you already know I “drank the kool-aid” and bought the Birkenstock Arizona Sandals on Friday, but in case you don’t, here they are again. I’ve worn them non-stop since I got them, and of course, they’re comfortable, but I still prefer the Mephisto footbed – it’s just more supportive in general. I’ve tried to style them in a hippie-chic sort of way instead of a high-school art teacher kind of way although I can see it’s a slippery slope! And I prefer them on me with pants/long skirts, but I wore them with short dresses over the weekend.
I’ve been wearing comfortable shoes/sandals for ages, so the Birks aren’t a stretch for me. I’ve also been known to wear some ugly shoes over the years, so there’s that. Honestly, I don’t even care anymore who thinks what about what I’m wearing. I’m happy with my “look” and that’s all that matters. Down deep, this is where I’m most “me”: in jeans, a drape-y tee (preferably linen), and comfortable sandals. A variation of this uniform with different skirts/dresses/leggings/cashmere is what I aim for. Consider it achieved.
I’m so glad you made birkenstocks look stylish. There is nothing more comfortable. TK Max here (Dublin) have them on sale regularly, maybe the American equiv (I think its TJ Max?) might have them too?
Did you get regular or soft footbed Birks?
they’re the soft footbed – that’s what they had at REI – and it’s probably why they’re less supportive than my mephisto sandals. still, they’re comfortable…
oh! good point. i don’t stop into TJ maxx regularly here because i never find anything good, but it’s worth a look. also nordstrom rack might have some.
Love the jeans!!!! I’ve wanted to wear some slightly more distressed looking jeans, and these are terrific! Always love a fresh, white shirt with jeans, too, and love the bag. Having done Birkenstocks back in the 70’s (thought I was hippie-fresh!) I am not sure I can do them again, but, hey….maybe!!!!
Thanks always, Grechen! Such fun ! (cool inspiring necklace, too!)

I love mine, so I guess I willingly “drank the kool-ade”!! I vacillate between my hipster look and my art teacher old dirty hippie look. It depends upon how much I happen to care that day. 😉
The reason I asked is because I got the same ones in a different color and found them too tight due to the soft footbed. I did size down, too, but I didn’t like how my toes hit the edge with no room left, and the next size up was too big. So I’m gonna try the regular footbed next. 🙂
