Elizabeth Suzann Harper tunic (gift for review last year) | one size minus

James Perse mini canvas tote
News flash: It is NOT 100 degrees out now. Saturday was SO HOT I felt like my skin would burn off, so didn’t wear anything that touched it very many places (my red EF dress), and then yesterday, it was so nice. Weirdly nice.
Anyway, I always take this opportunity to wear pants or sleeves, or things I wouldn’t wear in 100+ degrees, so here you have it. Actually, I probably would wear this outfit in super-hot weather, linen is the best thing to wear in the heat since it doesn’t stick to you, and doesn’t seem to absorb sweat. Give me all the linen.
Speaking of linen, does anyone have any updates to their Elizabeth Suzann WWC orders? has anyone ordered anything recently? Who’s getting ready for the new mules launch tomorrow? I wish I’d ordered a couple of things at launch so I’d have them now…but there’s always next year 🙂
Happy Monday!
I received the Harper tunic in linen gauze. It’s really beautiful and crinkly and I love how it pairs with denim cutoffs as well as slim black office pants.
I just received my linen Clyde pants. I had ordered the cotton twill version in my ‘size’ in the winter and didn’t love all the extra crotch fabric/high waist/frumpy long length. This time, I sized down and went with regular instead of tall and with the ‘give’ to the linen – I love them!
I got the Georgia Tee in linen gauze and love it. It seems to be a little more structured than drapey and fits slightly closer to the body than the mid-weight linen. Almost makes me tempted to try the Harper’s tunic again but having rejected it twice I can’t seem to bring myself to do it again!
I’m tempted by the mules but planning to resist!
ugh. i love all the reviews of the new linen gauze!! that’s what i wanted the harper dress in…it sounds perfect!!!
So my Elizabeth Suzann update: my linen Josephine tunic arrived earlier this month, and I’ve worn it a few times now. It’s lovely! I’ve gotten a few compliments when I’ve worn it, and it’s been great in sticky hot weather. I’m still figuring out how to wear it, but it looks weirdly good over wide culottes/gauchos, and also has been a way for me to make light sundresses work appropriate. So in all, I’m happy with my purchase.
Budget allowing one of these days, I’d like to add some more ES linen pieces. A couple of the longer dresses seem caftan-adjacent to me and seem like they’d be great for travel. (I’m always thinking of clothes for travel.) Although I wish they had on-seam pockets. And since I like the fit of the Josephine tunic, I might eventually order the shorter version in silk to serve as a more elevated basic than some of the worn t-shirts and shells I’ve been wearing.
I’d love to hear from someone who has the Josephine shell on fit and workability for a large bust. It seems like a good alternative to the Marlena tank, which I think would be way too low-cut for me. But both might end up being too cropped.
The Josephine tunic is so lovely and tempting but I’m trying to save money so I’m most interested in what could be year-round (or almost) pieces. I haven’t ordered anything from the WWC. I love hearing about everyone else’s purchases though and have been stealing Instagram for photos 😉
oh, tell me more about wearing the tunic with a light sundresses?
seems like the josephine tunic has been a really popular piece – i see a lot of it on instagram. i love it so much, but since i don’t wear pants much in summer, i’m not sure i would wear it enough. although, lol, maybe i do wear pants more than i think!!
i love the new linen clyde pants 🙂
i love my cotton twill clyde pants too, but i wish they were a little more comfortable – mostly lighter-weight…
Love this outfit! Cool and loose. I don’t know how you survive those temps! I’d melt!!!
I’ve been wearing lots of lightweight stuff (usually dresses) and I still sweat…UGH!
I saw the mules and love them, but I’m afraid my poor feet need more structure.
I have a bunch of easy slip dresses and sundresses that I don’t consider office appropriate; to make them so I wear the Josephine tunic over them, so there’s just a peek of the fabric visible in the slits of the tunic. The tunic itself is slightly longer than each of the dresses, and it looks a little more pulled together and interesting than wearing a cardigan or the like. Plus the tunic has a higher neckline and I’m currently having concerns about my decollété (I’ve neglected to take– as Caroline Hirons puts it– my skincare down to the tits, and it’s starting to show.)
I think I’ve worn it more over dresses than pants at this point: I maybe don’t have the right pants, because most of the pant combinations I tried were really dowdy, aside from my lone pair of culotte-y things that work well.
My linen gauze top (Harper tunic) performed really well during the 100 degree weather we had recently. It was cool and comfortable to wear and maintained its shape despite the oppressive humidity. I think I will order a Georgia tee next year in the darker gray color…
I was very excited to read on the IG account that the upcoming Signature relaunch will include more options for the Cecilia pant (my hands down favorite black pant – I’ve worn the heck out of it since receiving last fall). Also intrigued by the promise of more pockets in the collection!!
I honestly have not worn any of the 4 pieces I ordered this summer. Which is weird for me. It’s not that I don’t love them, I just haven’t had occasions to wear them. I am thinking that I should have ordered the Harper short or long sleeved dress in the light grey crinkle fabric instead of the slimmer, plain dress. I think I still prefer the latter, but I just need something more casual. Ditto with the long sleeved top and voluminous bel skirt in charcoal crinkle. On me, it just seems a little fancy for some reason. Normally I can take a pretty fancy dress and dress it down, but these outfits just seem to look pretty expensive and substantive, no matter what I do. Any ideas anyone? I expect I will get use out of the Josephine tunic once I get a few of my linen pants out of the laundry.
Brilliant idea! I was having difficulty finding loose fitting slips in cooler fabrics to wear under my sheer dresses. I’m not thin but am petite and while I can take a small size dress, even large slips are too fitted on me. Hate to wear a loose fitting natural fabric piece in humid weather if I have an underpinning that is too warm or that needs constant tugging down. I had considered picking up some slip dresses instead. I love the idea of wearing a tunic over as well (I see many Japanese tourists in Hawaii doing something similar). I think this will be lovely with some of my existing pieces.
I hemmed and hawed for too long over the ES handbags and now both sizes are sold out 🙁 I don’t have any ES pieces right now but it’s on my list.
I do love this top on you and you do wear pants more than I do. I find dresses so much easier in the morning getting ready for work – one and done.
I’ve worn my Georgia Tees at least 3x a week, my Harper tunic in charcoal on the weekends, my linen Tilda pants on the the cooler days, and my Josephine Tunic over a slightly shorter charcoal pull on knit Eileen Fisher skirt (totally fab)…all is all, it’s been an ES and EF summer for me!
I have a long sleeve Harper tunic in charcoal ordered for cool/cold weather, and plan on another long sleeve top as soon as I figure out which one I will get the most wear out of.
The charcoal linen gauze is just so cuddly and not as voluminous as the regular midnight linen. I read that the charcoal is more crinkly than the lighter grey color.
My dear husband calls my Georgia Midi dress in flax my “burlap sack” dress.
Not perfect linen is a great alternative if you like on seam pockets, plus a lower price point and shorter turnaround time.
I totally splurged this summer on the WWC but it was the only shopping I did and I had purged nearly my entire summer wardrobe. The Clyde jumpsuit is still my favorite. I had a mini meltdown recently trying to figure out how I was going to travel while wearing it but I wanted a short sleeve layer with it- such problems (because now I refuse to fly on a plane without those pockets) . I got a Petra crop which I wear with my Florence pants in the same color, another outfit I wear all the time. I returned a pair of Tilda pants, I liked them but the waist elastic was a tiny bit tight and I knew that would make me grumpy and I would avoid wearing them. I also got the burlap sack Georgia midi, obviously amazing. And probably my other favorite is the Clyde vest! I really. love. that vest.
Oh! And I almost forgot! I was the one who snagged the Darby work dress off Slowre and it’s AMAZING!!! It’s shameful how I stalked that dress.
It seems my plans to resist the mules were futile! 🙂
you got a pair???
Me too Laurie, ordered the Onyx. I will wear them on carpet in my house and decide if they’re a keep or return for in store credit. I don’t have anything like them in my current shoe wardrobe.
Same here!
THEY’RE IN MY CART!!! ugh.
just placed the order. got the onyx. i’m not convinced i’ll love them on me, but i’ve always wanted to try them. poor me if i have to return them for store credit 😉
haha. not shameful at all 🙂 it is such an amazing dress!!
man, i love that clyde vest. i THINK i would wear it, but i’m not sure, which is why i haven’t ordered it. it looks amazing to wear with my JP dresses, etc., but i’ve never worn a “vest” before.
Neither have I really, but it is great! Solves the problem of pants without pockets, weighs basically nothing so you can wear it on super hot days, adds variety to the same five outfits I wear over and over, etc.
No news on the Josephine tunic in navy midweight linen I ordered on June 9. It’ll be 8 weeks this Friday, and the lead time was 8–10 weeks when I ordered (although I noticed that it’s back down to 6–8 weeks). I had hoped it would arrive before I leave on vacation on August 14 (especially since we’re going to a hot and humid place) but am beginning to lose hope.
I got my clyde linen jacket, and I love it! The fit is similar to the jacket you posted from Slowr, but with the clyde pockets, and I like wearing it with the sleeves rolled, too :). The mid-weight linen is amaazing, and I think it will be great into fall.
Alexandra what size did you get, and how does the sizing compare to other ES pieces you might have. I really want to order the Clyde trench for fall in cotton canvas.
I got a size small! It’s my first ES purchase I’m keeping. I’m normally a size 6-8, narrow shoulders, large bust (30FF), but I’m currently almost 8 months pregnant :). Pre-pregnancy measurements 38″ – 30″ – 41″. My only other ES purchase was the Georgia Midi in OS, but I felt like the neckline was matronly on me with my larger bust.
Looking forward to seeing what it looks like postpartum!
Thanks for the info Alexandra…I’m thinking a medium will probably be a good size for me.
Congrats on your upcoming new baby!!
