Just a quick update and picture of one of the dresses I got from the James Perse sample sale (I also got the brushed jersey v-neck maxi dress for $39). Bottom line is that I love them, but I’ve never NOT loved a James Perse piece. Whenever I put one on, I instantly know I’ll want to live in it; everything just fits me and my lifestyle so perfectly. I know it’s hard to really see the dress with this outfit, but it looks basically like it does on the JP site. It’s a bit sheer, so I’ll wear a slip with it during warmer months, but it’s also longer in the back, so no worries about showing too much. I wish I could afford to get the spruce color, because I know I’ll wear it a ton when it’s warmer, but I can’t, so I’ll pass. Maybe if it shows up for $50 or something π
The other maxi dress is also great – I got it in black, which seems to be sold out now. I got a size 2 and it fits wonderfully, but it is shorter than I thought it would be on me, which is actually great, but if you’re taller than me, it would be more of a midi-length than a maxi. But this one also has a nice longer hem in the back, so it creates a nice flow. THE BEST THING EVER about the dress is that it has a built in bra and the straps are adjustable. BRILLIANT. The built in bra top is something I always love in a summer dress so I don’t have to worry about bra straps. This dress was quite a steal for $39 IMO.
There you have it…if you bought anything from the sample sale and already received it, please let us know in the comments your thoughts in case anyone else is wondering about fit/etc. of other pieces.
oh!! Rue La La is offering another $150 for $75 deal to Cosabella today and tomorrow. You may remember my mentioning that this is how I got the three Cosabella bras I love (Talco, Dolce & Amore) last year. If you need new lingerie DO NOT LET this pass you by! You don’t have to redeem the $150 at Cosabella until July, so you can hold on it if you want (just don’t let it expire), but seriously, Cosabella for 50% off doesn’t happen very often…and now that I have some of their bras, I’ll never wear others.
OK. I think you had this planned in advance: “Val wants to see some cute clogs? I’ll show her cute clogs!!! MUAHAHA!!!” ( I’ve always wanted to have a reason to do the “evil laugh”…thx! ) I love this outfit in so many ways! It’s so you, the dress is great, especially over the leggings, and the pop of color with the clogs is genius. ( I’m not sucking-up, either π )
I love the color of those clogs. Unfortunately, I’ve determined that I can’t really walk in clogs, so I avoid them. But they look great on you. Burgundy is one of the few “colors” that I can embrace.
Plus, I love that jacket. You keep pulling these things out that I’ve never seen you wear, and they look great!
I just received some new black dresses that I ordered from Madewell. They’re both a little heavier knit, almost ponte, and both shift style. For me, these do the job of your James Perse black dresses–I can throw them on, dress them up for work or wear them casual, plus they are OPAQUE so I don’t have to worry about layering anything under them.
The burgundy clogs look great with the black and gray. Good to know that the dress is slightly sheer. I’m not sold on the front, but I like the back a lot.
thanks erica! the back of the dress is what got me – i really love it, but i do wish it was a teeny bit longer in the front. and by slightly sheer, i just mean don’t wear a thong with it π boyshorts underneath will do…but i tend to be very conservative and want to wear a slip a lot of the time. just to cover all my bases LOL
