Look, a plant! LOL – I’ve been forced to rework my photography “studio” (which is upstairs on our landing) after some equipment failures and I’m trying to make it slightly less drab & boring. I have plants up here, but not many, so I’m trying to figure out what will work in this space. It gets quite a bit of light and with the large window the plants can see enough of the sky. I think I might bring the pothos I have in my office that’s out of control and pin it up on this back wall and a side wall like Jamie’s Jungle has done with his (the one he has behind the sofa climbing up the wall).
And pants! I got these pants on Friday and haven’t stopped wearing them. I’m just so glad to have another pair of elastic waist/stretchy pants to put in my rotation. I was getting pretty tired of wearing the same three pairs of sweatpants whenever I wanted to wear pants. And it’s too cold again to wear wide leg pants.
Had a Dr. appt. this morning. We heard the heartbeat with a doppler machine, I got a lot of blood drawn and have a follow-up in two weeks for the results. I figured it out: pregnancy is mostly an exercise in waiting, in being patient. You’re always waiting for this milestone or that, results of one test or another, and then finally, hopefully – a healthy baby.
I hope you had a great weekend. I felt horrible on Saturday so I didn’t do much, and yesterday was super-cold, so I also didn’t do much haha.
This is how to do pregnancy well – chic, simple, and cozy! Love the pants. Praying for great test results. (TBH, your background never really matters that much to me. I’m here for YOU, not decor.)
I was surprised each of my two successful pregnancies at how quickly I wanted soft and stretchy things at my waist. Yes, “normal” things fit. No, I did not want to wear them.
Pregnancy and parenting is a real lesson in relinquishing control, in unexpected places. I’ve noted before here that after curating my wardrobe for a few years and embracing living with less in a smaller space, I found dressing myself, managing my wardrobe, my sartorial identity, and managing my belongings in a new space with tiny people unexpectedly challenging! They are now 3.5 and 20 months and I’m just starting to feel like I have a little more control in some of those arenas (just as I’m getting less and less over what they do, where, and when, ha).
I’m so glad things are going well. Those pants are adorable and look so smart and comfy!
*less and less control 🙂
Same! This space reminds me so much of my master bedroom (light carpet and walls with white baseboards). Living plants are a great addition, and if you’re feeling itchy for something else to break up the off-white, given what I’ve seen of your style, I’d consider a bit of natural wood – perhaps a bench or even just a shaker chair or something. I get the appeal of the light backdrop for photographing outfits, but I think I’ve decided to paint my bedroom navy, add a big plant, and do a natural-wood/rustic-type headboard. I’d love hardwood floors, but the carpets are still pretty new (installed just before we bought the house three years ago) and my hubby likes the soft and warm stuff underfoot and isn’t persuaded that a rug would be just fine. 🙂
Yes, lots of waiting. These pants look so comfy! Speaking of James Perse, is there going to be a winter sale any time soon? I need some tanks. 🙂
I LOVE navy walls and kitchen cabinetry (as my evidenced by my Pinterest acct!). We used to have a small bedroom with hardwood floors and I painted it chocolate brown – it was so cozy and restful.
there usually is?! but i haven’t received any advance notice of it.
of course I will let you guys know !!!
i have a light wood chair i can stick in there, but that feels weird. i’m not really into “props” LOL and it wouldn’t really serve much of a purpose in that space…
i hate carpet 🙁 but most “newer” (80’s) houses have carpet everywhere. luckily we don’t have any carpet downstairs…
You could set the plant on the chair.
Lol. Yes. But still that seems a little silly? I’ll try though. Could be interesting 😉
You look great, Grechen. So excited for you/husband/family.
Belated congrats, Grechen! I love your outfit. I have those pants in black and I wear them all the time.
Personally, I feel like in our post athleisure moment, so-called real pants need to up their game if I’m going to wear them. 🙂
