James Perse satin ribbed tank dress | link goes to newer, shorter version
Elizabeth Suzann linen Clyde vest | not available, secondhand
I bought this from slowre and made the pockets shallower so I can actually reach the bottom LOL
Birkenstock Arizona Sandals | I bought these secondhand
Oh, hello. It’s another outfit. I’m on a roll for now, but can’t guarantee anything. I wiped myself out yesterday by eating pancakes for lunch (face palm emoji) and felt terrible – sluggish, tired, bloated – all afternoon and evening; I think I’m only now recovering. Heartburn this morning, new arrivals day at slowre…it’s a miracle I’m dressed at all! But I have packages to mail out, lunch to have (healthier today), and a trip to the grocery store in my future so…
I think I bought this JP tank dress last winter when it went on sale and already knew I was pregnant, anticipating it getting a lot of wear. I am wearing it quite a bit, but I’m not sure it’s meant to stretch as much as it has? But as with all James Perse, it’s a trooper and standing up to my continued wear/”abuse.” Speaking of James Perse, keep this on the DL, but they will be having another sale VERY soon – of course I’ll share more details when I can!
Happy Wednesday!!
Hey Grechen,
I’ve been wanting to ask you this question forever re: James Perse dresses and skirts. I *love* the black midi skirt you frequently wear, and they similarly have dresses of the same length, etc. My one concern is that of mobility. Do you feel constricted when you walk in these garments? Or notice any hip soreness after a day? I understand you can’t do cartwheels in them, but are they OK for short walks/regular running around?
Thanks — and I appreciate any insight you have!
there are some pieces that are much harder to walk in than others – usually the ones that are maxi length, and double layered.
this particular dress i’m wearing now is no problem at all, the other skirt you’re talking about the ruched midi skirt, can be a teeny bit constricting at first, but i don’t tend to notice it after a while. it is harder to get up into my car now since i have a small SUV 😉
IMO, they are perfect for short walks, errands, running around, etc., then again, i am sort of “Used” to some level of constriction since i’ve worn JP dresses/skirts forever? so maybe i’m not a great judge? they do also ride up a little bit, which can be both good and bad – mostly good though, for mobility’s sake LOL
Having a baby in your late forties sounds like a major mistake. You’ve always struck me as selfish, focused mostly on personal needs, and that attitude won’t work with child-rearing.
And how would you feel on the receiving end of such a comment ? Please keep your opinion to yourself rather than hurting a kind person.
Selfish is writing a rude judgmental comment to someone you don’t even know and only really see one part of their life. Why? So you can feel superior? To harass someone and feel powerful? Is this a maternal, nurturing and humane way to behave to someone who is pregnant?
Shame on you.
Grechen, I hope you can give this trolling comment the attention it deserves – none.
Hi Grechen, I wanted to mention that your link for the JP dress is going to the registry instead.
Love this outfit 🙂 It would be a great option for the climate where I am as well.
oh, i’m not taking the comment personally, but it does make me really depressed for humanity…i just can’t in a million years relate to or understand a person who would think, let alone write, something so nasty and pointless. so to know there are people out there like that is the most upsetting thing…
OMG!!! my brain 😉
thanks for letting me know, i edited it LOL
I really can’t tolerate mean people! They suck!
WTF?! Who are you to say that.
You are ridiculously cruel and also misguided. Grechen is very generous here – sometimes exploring and articulating one’s thoughts and anxieties is the best service you can provide the world. The kind of self-centeredness that’s bad for kids is toxic narcissism, i.e. when you are so consumed by your own innards that you think you are entitled to express all your nasty thoughts.
Oh. Wait.
100% agree with Lisa. This comment exemplifies an attitude that definitely doesn’t work with parenting (or anything else involving living creatures).
For shame.
Just wanted to say that you look fammmm-bulous in that J.P. dress! Wow! Elegant & sexy! I’ve heard it said that James Perse is in trouble since they have frequent sample sales. What do you think?
