Here’s my other purchase from the James Perse sale, the cashmere raglan tee. I tried this on in the store, in the Avalon color (which was really really pretty), but now I’m thinking I must have tried on a size 3, because the 2 is shorter than I remember. Or maybe it was those 4 pounds I put on during Thanksgiving week???
(**edited to add later: the sweater is NOT too short on me. it WAS the 4 pounds I put on during Thanksgiving, that quickly come off when I get back home and start my healthy eating/Pure Barre again…. AND I was bloated. AND whenever you layer something under a jacket, etc., it shortens a little. Anyway, I played around a bit this morning with other outfits – it is AMAZING with my hope news trousers – and find the length/fit/everything to be just perfect. Carry on.)
Anyway, I still love the sweater, and am wearing it now, exactly as I’d envisioned it; a slightly-warmer-than-a-t-shirt layer under my bomber jacket, or any other jacket or cardigan so I’m not adding bulk at the sleeves. To wear with jeans, I do wish it was slightly longer, but I think the length will work better with my Eileen Fisher harem pants, or my black Hope trousers, and even with my long fleece JP skirt. Obviously, the sweater is very thin, so it needs an additional layer underneath (I will even wear this over my white Madewell shirt), but it is relatively warm, considering. A good piece for the sale price I think. Although I might have been happier with the size 3.
On to the jeans. I hereby vow to never again purchase another pair of jeans that aren’t Goldsign. I knew this already, but I had to shop around. Since buying my first pair of Goldsign jeans 10 years ago, I KNEW they were the best jeans for my figure, even then. But they’re expensive. Also, given that I still have the three pairs of Goldsign jeans I bought many years ago (they’re shorts now because they got too big for me), I know they’ll hold up over many years, and are absolutely worth the price.
The Goldsign virtual high-rise jeans fit me like a glove. Maybe slightly more than I’d like, but I’ll take it. The high-rise is perfect, and exactly what I wanted. The length could be an inch and a half shorter, but I can hem them of course. The wash is a nice uniform dark wash – a very good basic, but I did like the wash of the glam skinny I returned for these better. The Zagir wash is nice, but sold out in my size, which is fine, because I don’t need them now anyway. There’s also a coated black pair, which is even more tempting, but I’m not convinced yet that I’ll wear them often enough to make them worthwhile. I love love love the idea, but I’m not sure I’m “rocker” enough to pull them off!
Anyway, I’ve found my holy grail skinny jeans, I think, and yes, I still like skinny jeans, even though the fashion gods have declared them over. I do think they work generally for my body type because they allow me to show my figure, thick legs and all. And anyway, since my legs ARE so thick, straight leg jeans look like skinny on me anyway, even boyfriends aren’t as slouchy as I’d like, so almost all jeans lately look “skinny” on me. So I might as well just embrace it…right?
Did anyone else order the James Perse cashmere raglan tee? (it’s sold out in the charcoal color, so someone must have!!) What did you think?
I think my husband bought the cashmere tee in charcoal for me for Christmas. Twins! I told him size 2, and I think I am about a half size down from you in JP, so it will probably be an okay length for me. I feel like I am in-between a 1 and a 2 in JP, which makes it hard for me to buy online. Anything that is slim cut, like the basic button up shirt, I need a 2 because it clings to my hips.
I thought you loved your Frame jeans best? I am still hoping to find them, and now Goldsign, so I can try them in person. You look great!
oh yay! i think the 2 will fit you nicely. it does fit me well, i think, i just wish it was a couple inches longer. everything else fits beautifully. ah well…
i love my frame jeans, but i don’t think they look great on me; i wish the legs were just a bit wider, like they looked more “boyfriend-y” on me, but as i mentioned, it’s impossible for me to find a true slouchy jean that fit my legs. i’m hoping steven alan gets these hope jeans in so i can try them, they look PERFECT…
i got my first pair of goldsign jeans at blue genes in atlanta, in the around lenox shopping center, but they’re not there anymore. i don’t know if they re-opened or what? but it’s hard to find goldsign offline anymore. barney’s used to carry them too, which is where i got my next two pairs.
Hmm, I’m pretty curious about the Goldsign jeans .. a bit pricey, but if they fit a pear .. I’ll buy!

Another A+ outfit on you, Grechen! My gosh…you look totally appropriate, but not even close to 40, if you know what I mean?!? Fresh, chic, and supremely confident. 🙂
I loved that cashmere tee in charcoal, but I know if you wish YOU had a 3, a 4 would never work for me. However, it just jogged my memory, and I have a J Crew black cashmere S/S tee somewhere in my closet, so I’m going to try this look.
I’m still very frustrated with jeans. Paige seems to be my “spirit fruit” but I’m still not exactly sure what that is….Am I an apple? A pineapple? A kiwi? (No, I’m taller than a kiwi.) I need a massive try-on session.
