It was fall for a second, then it wasn’t. Actually, it’s fall in the mornings and summer in the afternoons now. But that is normal for this time of year here. And I HATE IT. Also, I think I’m having slight temperature regulation issues LOL and I get VERY hot very quickly so I have to make sure and wear layers I can quickly peel off when that happens. I sometimes start to feel like I’m suffocating. Ugh, honestly, I’ve been thinking again that I’m finally entering my menopausal phase. Remember what happened last time I thought that???? No, it is NOT THAT again haha.
Speaking of that…it’s been awhile since I posted a Hawk picture:
He wanted to wear his hat inside…
Actually this is a very rare picture of him without mosquito bites all over his face. I’ve tried everything except deet at this point and nothing works. I cover his arms and legs up so they attack his face. I’ve thought about keeping him inside, but he enjoys playing out in the yard so much that would be devastating. Anyway, they don’t seem to bother him at all. They bother ME.
And aside from two nights that he didn’t sleep well, he’s back to his normal self, going to sleep well at night and still taking two naps a day. I am so lucky, I know. He does only sleep for about an hour each nap, so they’re not very long, but it’s enough time for me to get just a little something done. I don’t know what I’ll do when he drops his second hap…
We are all well here, all things considered. I miss my family desperately, so we’re going to drive to Atlanta next Friday to see them, and my dad and stepmom are coming for a visit in early November. We are all being so careful and as safe as we can be, so we feel comfortable with the minimal risk we’re taking to see family. Then that will be it for travel until spring 2021 probably.
Sigh. I never in a million years expected to be still basically be quarantining more than six months after we started. But here we are.
How are you?
Firstly, how adorable is Hawk in his little hat? So sweet. Sorry about the mosquitoes, they are the worst. The weather here in Boston is the same, fall in the morning and summer in the afternoon with fall/early winter overnight temps. I think I changed clothes 3 times yesterday just to not be sweating all day! I still haven’t figured out how to visit with my family who lives really far away and I miss them terribly. Zoom helps but not the same. Very strange times. We are escaping to Maine for a couple of weeks to a remote cottage with our two dogs (the empty nester vacation lol) where I plan to read, hike, and enjoy nature. Safe travels to you and your family 🙂
You have a super cute baby;). That’s all for now!
Ugh, I am SO SORRY none of the anti-mosquito recommendations worked for him (he is TOO CUTE). We still have skeeters here too, and I’m terrible about putting anything on (I hate DEET and tend to only use when I’m in mosquito = disease zones) I pay for that because I end up having to use anti-itch cream later or I can’t sleep….
Our temps are starting to cool – esp at night – but I hear you on the heat & layers! I got up, showered & dressed for an 8:30 zoom meeting today. As soon as that was over, I took off my clothes and am now working in my undies. Ah well. We do what we can and what we need to….
Cute!! Unfortunately most of the non-DEET products don’t work. I get pretty bad reactions to mosquito bites and must wear DEET or else I’m itching bad for weeks. When I visited India, where mosquitos were rampant, everyone swore by Odomos cream and I have to say, that cream was extremely effective and did not have a harsh chemical feeling to it. It smelled good and felt like applying baby lotion.
Awww! He is just the cutest, Grechen! And Hawk’s hat is bringing back memories of when my youngest was probably about his age and had a very similar hat (my only kid that would keep a hat on).
Hi, Grechen! I’m a first time commenter and just wanted to say I’ve really enjoyed your site. Your posts have helped me curate a JP closet of my own. Thank you!
It’s nice to hear from you again! I’m glad all is as well as can be expected. Hawk get’s cuter by the week and month! Take care and stay safe 🙂
