I mentioned Friday that I was thinking about returning/exchanging this sweater. I didn’t. I still think the sleeves are too big for the sweater; I wish they were slimmer. And it’s a little large on me up top – while fitting well around my hips, etc. But I like it well enough, and my husband liked it (it’s not as huge on me as some of my other “tunic” sweaters), so I decided to keep it. I layer it over a long sleeve tee-shirt and it’s warm enough for mid-50’s, although I don’t think it’s as warm as the chunky knit.
This waffle knit sweater is SO SOFT though, and I like it better than the chunky knit, honestly. We’ll see how it pills over time, and it does stretch out a little with wear (I took these photos after a day of wear), but so far so good.
As you can see, I also got my Veja sustainable sneakers late last week. I wore them around the house for a little while when I first got them, and they were okay – VERY stiff. Then I wore them out with my James Perse hoodie dress to run around with a friend and I was not comfortable. They come up quite high on my foot, the tongue cuts into my ankles (or cankles, as it were…) a little, which was annoying to say the least.
After that, I was really disappointed, and wondered if I’d even be able to wear the shoes again, but I gave them another chance yesterday, and was fine. They’re still rather stiff, but I can tell they’re loosening up every time I wear them. I also didn’t tie the laces as tight, which helped. They are a teeny bit wide around the toe box, but definitely not enough to size down (anyway, they don’t offer half sizes). Again, though, I don’t wear socks, or they are VERY VERY thin if I do, so if you wear regular socks, then that would probably alleviate some of the wide-ness.
Overall, I do recommend these shoes, but they absolutely take time to break in, and the fit is a little “off”. The leather is VERY stiff – it almost doesn’t feel like leather at all – and takes time to loosen up. They’re not the most comfortable sneakers ever (Vince takes that honor), but I can tell they will become better with wear. As I said, I wore them yesterday to run errands and hardly noticed I was wearing them…
And, I love the marble grey/white now, but at first I was a little disappointed because I thought I wanted more white than gray. But the more I looked at them, the more I appreciated that they’re a more “interesting” white sneaker, not gray, and not white…Now, I love them.
Did anyone else order a pair of Veja sneakers? What did you think? What about Everlane’s waffle knit sweaters? Who ordered a piece of their new “street fleece?”
Happy Monday!!
I’m very interested to hear about the street fleece. I need a pair of pants like that to run around in but I’m worried they’ll have too much of a dropped crotch/high rise, which on me is just bad (unless it’s a *really* dropped crotch like on a drapey harem pant).
I ordered the waffle knit turtleneck (in charcoal) and will probably end up returning it. I love the yarn and the knit and even the style of the sweater and how it looks on me, but I don’t think I’d ever be comfortable wearing it indoors. I also ordered the E1 mock neck in charcoal, intending to keep one or the other. That’s definitely going back. The yarn is amazing – soft but very substantial for cashmere – but the fit is awful on me. The sleeves on the E1 sweater are very blousy – I like that about them. I like the neckline too. its the way the body hangs that’s all wrong. I’m still on the fence about the E1 structured dress, which I got in a previous order. I can elaborate on that if anyone is interested to hear my thoughts.
Thanks for the honest review of the sneakers! I was tempted to order the silver, but now I think they would rub in all the wrong places on me.
Off topic but I have not seen any info or reviews of the E1 crossbody? Can anyone comment on how much it holds (it doesn’t appear to hold very much)….
A late response but nevertheless..
I have the Everlane street fleece pants in black and charcoal and also the street fleece bomber.
Needless to say I love them.
I am 5 9″ and 155 lbs and bought the large. I work in an office setting and can easily where the “track pants” to work with the right shoe/bootie ( the Everlane Brixton boot for instances). They are perfect on cold days or “fat days”. The elastic does roll a bit but nothing I cant handle. They do seem to pick up dog hair easily, but that I something I am willing to live with, considering I have two Irish Wolfhounds.
I also own the Everlane waffle knit tunic sweater in grey. I downsized from a large to a medium. It is still quite roomy but is a great sweater to throw on top of leggings on a cold day. Soft and no sign of pilling.
