Wow..that was fast! And sadly, all the Everlane short-sleeved sweatshirts are sold out, except the gray in large (mine is a medium). I love it, but…it’s big. Kind of. As usual because I have a short waist, larger hips, big arms and nothing on top, it’s quite large in the chest area and around the waist, but fits fine in the arms. It’s also very long, which I wasn’t expecting. If I got a large, it would be long enough and big enough to probably wear with leggings, but that’s not really what I wanted. If I wear it by itself, folded under like a “real” sweatshirt, it’s better, but still a little bulky around my middle. I wouldn’t have been able to size down to a small I don’t think, because it would have been too snug in the arms, but I can’t say for sure a small wouldn’t be better.
I’ll wear this anyway – obviously! – and I do kind of like how the neck is open and wider than normal – but again, that may just be the way it fits on my body. I’m super-excited about it, especially for the $30 price tag. And again, I’m impressed with how quickly it arrived, given that the site was swamped when the collection launched, and that they’ve almost all sold out. Most other larger retailers would have used that as an excuse to delay shipment, or take their time.
Did you get a short-sleeve sweatshirt? has it arrived yet? What do you think?
You totally make it work and it doesn’t look big in a sloppy way at all, just comfy and casual.
I think mine should be here today (fingers crossed) and now I’m really interested to see how the large size is going to look on me.
Hey, that looks great! So if the short-sleeved version is sold out, I guess that means that all of America is walking around with cold arms now. 😉 I think I will size down to a medium the next time I get an Everlane top. I’m thinking of breaking my shopping ban when their new silk blouses come out soon.
haha!
i do love their silk blouses, just wish i could bring myself to wear mine more often. maybe under the short-sleeve sweatshirt??
seems like they shipped everything out super-fast! let us know how you like yours. did you get a t-shirt also?
You’re joking, right? Because I don’t think that would be a good look. Seriously.
ha! no, you’re right. if it was more fitted, i would try it, but it’s too oversized on me to look good with silk…
Oh, I see. Your rationale is interesting. You’re thinking more in terms of garment line and shape, but I’m thinking more in terms of fibres. Everlane billed their new sweatshirts as being neoprene inspired, so I think of that as a more synthetic fibre and I wouldn’t pair that with a natural fibre like silk. I’d be more inclined to wear silk with other natural fibres like cashmere, mohair, wool, or even a 100% cotton denim jacket. But hey, I’m open to new styling ideas, which is one reason I come here!
so interesting!! i guess i never really think about fibers, as much as i do shape, but that’s a good point about pairing natural with natural…
This is great post and who says it not fitting you rather its looks perfect on you dear.
You must try that look, Gretchen. They’ve styled it with a round collar silk shirt on their website, I think it looks rather nice.
Well, I got the Boyfriend Raglan and the same short-sleeved one you’re wearing. I must say I quite love them but I’m 5 months pregnant right now, and they fit great! 😉 Size Medium. Not sure how they’ll look once I (hopefully) lose the baby weight. I suspect they may look a bit baggy. But, like you said, the sleeves in Small would be too tight on me as well. So I think I’ll keep this size and see how much wear I can get out of them later. Really love the material, and raglan sleeves are my weakness.
i’ve a new found love for raglan sleeves as well. i used to think they weren’t great for my body type (and maybe they’re not in general), but i love how easy & effortlessly chic they look. in my eyes anyway 😉
You look adorable! I haven’t tried anything…yet. But this sweatshirt might get me to go for it. I am not sure about the neckline on me, though. I think I have linebacker shoulders (Or, as we used to call them back in the day when there were two Germanys: “East German swimmer woman shoulders”) ;-0 No offense to any former East Germans. I’m German myself.
