Everlane wins again…I will admit, this was a tad light for yesterday’s cool temperatures, but if it ever warms up enough here, I can definitely see myself wearing the seed stitch sweater a lot in the evenings or over the summer inside restaurants, etc., with the a/c going. Mine is the taupe color, in a medium and I think the fit is perfect. I do love the color, but I’m also finding the birch rather intriguing, especially since I loved the combination of my “creamy” Inhabit cashmere cardigan layered over a white tee in my outfit yesterday. While I love the Inhabit sweater, it’s quite big on me now, and the neck never has lain right, so a replacement might be in order.
I do also think if I get another one, I’ll get a different style than this u-neck. V- or U-necks tend to be most flattering on me, followed by wider necks (or boat necks), but I kind of feel like the neck on this one is a little “forced” for lack of a better word. It’s a little too severe? I’d rather it be softer, and wider. And I do love a good raglan sleeve…
Who else got an Everlane seed stitch sweater? How do you like it?
I just ordered that exact sweater this morning! I’m reaaaally hoping it works for me even though I can’t usually tolerate cashmere with my super sensitive skin. But it’s only 15%, so my fingers are crossed. I also sized up because I wanted it to be slouchy, so we’ll see. Looks great on you!
oh…great minds ๐
i’ll be curious to know how sizing up works for you…
I just got that today! I like it a lot-actually much better than the raglan, which I have in black. There are seams coming out of the neckline of the raglan that make it super casual, almost like a sweatshirt. The U neck is more like a sweater.
Also, I don’t suggest getting seed stitch in black as it attracts every bit of lint and also is a bit washed out looking. I can’t imagine what it is going to look like after a few washes.
I’d have to say it looks pretty damned good on you! I love the color and the style, so why mess with perfection?!?
well, you know me, val, if i like something, i must get all of the colors/styles ๐
but i’m trying NOT to do that as much, so thanks for reminding me! lol
oh, thanks for the tip! i do like a sweatshirt look sometimes, but i have plenty of sweatshirts…so maybe the raglan is not for me right now…
Looks great on you! I have been debating this exact sweater, and just wish the u-neck was lower. I tend to think lower scoops and v’s are more flattering on me…love Everlane, just wish the cuts were slightly less conservative. That’s just me though–I know what they’re going for is “classic”.
Having heard so much about Everlane I checked out their website. It was surprising to see that their Large is size 8-10. This sounds a bit odd to me, I’m usually a 12 on top, 14 on bottom and they don’t give hip measurements so it’s not eau to figure out how the pieces would fit. Any comments?
i actually think everlane runs quite big, and a large would fit a 12-14, i know there are some others who agree with me, maybe they’ll chime in…
Hi Laura & Gretchen,
First, Gretchen, thanks for this post – I’ve been eyeing this exact sweater, and it’s great to see it outfitted on you – you look terrific!
Laura, I too, shared your sizing concerns with regard to everlane. I’m often a 12 in tops, and initially, I dismissed everlane, as I thought that it would run too small on me. Personally, I find a large more than sufficient in almost every style I’ve tried of theirs (exceptions: I found the v-neck tee the one top that was the most body conscious in a L, and the french terry also isn’t especially forgiving. They both fit, but on my body type, I wasn’t sold), With some of the especially slouchy styles, I can even get away with a medium (i.e. Seed stitch raglan, Ryan tees). The trouble is that sometimes their sizing can be inconsistent in the same style, amongst different colours or runs (i.e. I have the Ryan tee in charcoal and heather gray – both mediums, and the charcoal is much smaller than the heather, though it still fits). That said, I’ve never had a problem with making returns to everlane – I think they offer a 90 day window? I would say that if you’re curious, they’re definitely worth a shot.
