I desperately wanted this Everlane Langley drape tank when it was first launched earlier in the summer, but waited too long and missed my chance, so when it came back in stock last week, I ordered it in small and medium – this is the small. I intended to send one of the sizes back (and that would be the medium), but I will keep it to wear with leggings and to Pure Barre because it’s longer, and great for layering this fall.
There’s very little difference in the sizes on me, except the armholes on the medium are larger, and therefore don’t look as “nice” or fit as well. And the length is longer. Overall, because of my hips/butt, the tank is not drapey at all on me, but it doesn’t cling too much, or at least in an unflattering way, if that makes sense. (if you’re looking for more drapey/flowy, the Ryan tank is what you’re looking for – I have three of those)
I had been searching for quite some time for a white, non-racer back tank top that’s somewhat fitted to wear with cardigans and alone, but never found what I was looking for. I’ve tried Madewell, Target, James Perse, Splendid…everything was just “off” and not exactly what I wanted. This Everlane tank isn’t either, but it’s very close and will do fine. Most of all, it’s opaque, and the arms fit nicely – which is good enough right now. I also really like the curved hemline. I like a straighter hemline for layering under sweaters, etc., in the fall, but this one is interesting for warmer weather, I think.
And the Everlane trench launched again today (if you’re on the waitlist!), in three colors. I got mine the first time around (they sent it to me to review) and haven’t had a chance to wear it yet, but I’m looking forward to being able to. I liked the fit and the slight a-line shape of it. Check out my review of the Everlane swing trench, and let me know if you end up ordering it! Also…can’t even WAIT to see the new wool and loafers!
I love this and have a question about keeping such items white! I struggle with this and my James Perse white t’s. How do you do it?
Love this ensemble today, Grechen 🙂
I’ve become a big Everlane fan myself. I have yet to purchase any of the tank tops though, but may soon. I did notice a hole in my Ryan tee the other day however which made me question the durability of the fabric. Then again, i have two dogs who will occasionally jump on me so perhaps it’s their doing! In any case, i have been happy with my Everlane purchases overall.
i think i have so many white tees/tanks that i never wear any one enough to have that problem. at least in the past…
i have noticed lately some yellowing at the armpits of my JP tee and splendid tee that i wear most often though, and i don’t know what to do about it. honestly, they both need to be replaced soon anyway, so i might just do that and relegate the older ones to layering. but i remember someone mentioned a solution to that somewhere here before. i’ll try to find it…
thanks henny! my very first ryan tee got a hole in it the first day i wore it, so i emailed them about it and they credited my account (and let me keep the tee ) – they did acknowledge that their first run had some quality issues, though. is yours a VERY first generation ryan tee? if not, and you haven’t worn it very often, i would contact them about it and see what they’ll do.
i’m so glad dagny hasn’t ripped any of my clothes!! my sister’s dog did when i visited atlanta this past february though – he ripped holes in two pairs of MY FAVORITE LEGGINGS (JP & splendid) with his teeth!
Definitely contact Everlane! I had a Ryan tank in charcoal, wore it twice, washed it once, and it got a big hole along the arm seam ( looked like there wasn’t enough fabric when the seam was stitched it was just wide open right there, not torn). I contacted them and they immediately refunded me and gave me free shipping to re-order.
I ended up re-ordering a different tank to try, that one didn’t work on me, and now I’m wondering if it’s worth trying for a not defective Ryan tank.
Thank-you Grechen and Renza, for the info on the Ryan tee! I only bought the tee about 2 months ago, wore it maybe 4 times and washed it twice, always on “gentle” cycle. I’ll email them the situation and see what they say. The hole is very tiny which is a good thing but if they’ll exchange for a new one, that’d be pretty nifty!
Grechen, that sucks about your sis’s dog ruining your leggings! 🙁
I’ve been pretty fortunate in that mine have “only” destroyed a favorite pair of sunglasses. But then again, they’ve also “eaten” my once-beautiful sofa 🙁 Good thing i love my dogs so much!
i was DEVASTATED. ozzie never chewed or was interested in ANYTHING that wasn’t his. he mostly cared only about tennis balls. dagny will get things like socks and dryer sheets and run around to have us chase her, but she hasn’t destroyed anything yet *knock wood*
i don’t think we’ll ever be able to leave her completely unattended though – thank goodness she loves to be in her crate, it’s like her sanctuary, so she stays there when we’re not home.
Thanks to you guys, Everlane credited me for my Ryan tee just now! Incredible!! It took me two emails though. The first reply was for me to “hand wash” the tee next time vs. machine. I then replied back and said I didn’t recall reading “hand wash” on the care instructions. Does anyone know?
So they just replied to me again and said they’d give me store credit for the tee! WOW!
Now i have another reason to love Everlane even more.
Thanks again guys for encouraging me to contact them 🙂
yay! i think it says “hand wash” now on the website, but i don’t know wh – duh. i’m wearing a ryan tank right now…just looked at the tank and it says “hand wash” – but to me, that means “machine wash delicate” or just plain-old machine wash. i do not hand wash anything….

Love this stuff
Oh my gosh! I saw your post today and I laughed….We’re “twinsies” again today!!! Haha! (Same pieces, just different shades) I’m wearing my light grey GAP maxi, an Old Navy dark grey tank (it’s got stretch and so it doesn’t bag-out – I love it and wish I had one in white, but it was purchased during one of my buying sprees and I have no idea which one it is or when I got it – Sure sign of a shopaholic), a drapey cotton grayish tweedy cardi by Nation LTD, and my Birkenstock Gizeh’s in black patent. Oh, and an etsy pendant necklace.
I think the Everlane tank fits you perfectly, and the curved bottom gives you a long, lean line.
In regard to tees and quality problems, I just washed my Alternative Apparel white boxy tee for the first time and it literally fell apart! I have never been so disappointed in the quality of a garment EVER!
oh…i like alternative apparel generally, but have never tried anything. can you take it back? contact them about it?
your outfit sounds super-chic…wish you had a blog 😉
oh…looks good! i should try it, my whites could definitely stand whitening…
thank you!
OMG! The “Mrs. Stewart” illustration looks just like Robin Williams as “Mrs. Doubtfire”! 😉
I’ve thought about it, believe me. It’s something I WANT to do, but I’m kind of stuck in a rut right now ( And having back surgery on Monday. A laminectomy to correct a herniated disc/sciatic nerve pain.) I’m hoping that a pain-free fresh start will get me moving forward again!
I love this outfit on you, Grechen.
